Guru Arjan Dev ji is talking to us in Raag Gond, the Raag Gond being the Raag which allows the sense of union to arise in the mind of the listener.

raag go(n)add mehalaa 5 choupadhae ghar 1
Guru ji
is talking to us in the Ghar pehala, choupadhae means four feet, four different parts of this shabad. Guru ji is talking to us in Ghar pehala, Ghar pehala meaning the dadra taal. So, this shabad is meant to be sung in the Raag Gond, it is made up of four parts, and in the Raag Gond with the taal dadra being applied.

Guru ji says, ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh
There is One Eternal being, who is sat, True forever, who is found through gurprasad, through the Guru’s Grace.

sabh karathaa sabh bhugathaa
Sabh
means all, karathaa means Creator; Waheguru is the Creator of all; sabh bhugathaa, bhugathaa means enjoyer, He is the enjoyer of all.

rehaao
Guru ji
says, Pause and think about this.

Now, there is a difference between Waheguru and a usual person who makes something is this. A carpenter who makes a game, who makes a chair, does not enjoy the chair, he does not get to sit on the chair, he simply gets to make that chair. Waheguru is the Creator and He gets to play in it as well. Guru ji says, pause and think about this, such great Creator is Waheguru.

sunatho karathaa paekhath karathaa
sunatho karathaa, sunatho
means listen, karathaa means Creator, paekhath means seeing, karathaa means Creator, all listening to everything and seeing everything is the Creator. The Creator is the One who created the rose. He is the who sees the rose and enjoys the rose, smells the rose, listens to the bees and to the music of the world.

adhrisatto karathaa dhrisatto karathaa
Adhrisatto
, means the one who cannot be seen, unseen, karathaa means Creator again, dhrisatto means one who can be seen. God is the One who can be seen and God is the One who cannot be seen. God is the One who is in the Creation, but beyond the Creation.

Oupath karathaa paralo karathaa
Oupath
means in the beginning through creation, the Creator is the One who creates everything; paralo means destroy; karathaa, the Creator is the One who destroys everything. Not only is He the Creator, He is the destroyer too.

biaapath karathaa alipatho karathaa
biaapath
, means running through everything, God runs through everything; alipatho means to be detached from everything. God is running through everything, but detached from everything. Like the river which passes through many places, but is not attached to any place.

bakatho karathaa boojhath karathaa
bakatho
means one who speaks and boojhath means one who understands. God is the One who speaks and He is the One who understands as well.

Aavath karathaa jaath bhee karathaa
Aavath
means one who comes, one who arrives, jaath bhee one who goes as well. Not only is God the One who comes on to this Earth, He is the One who leaves this Earth as well.

niragun karathaa saragun karathaa
niragun
means without any qualities, one that cannot be seen, cannot be grasped; saragun karathaa means one who can be seen, one who has the greatest qualities. God is the One who can be seen, One who has the greatest qualities. God is the One who cannot be seen, God is the One who can be seen and felt and enjoyed.

Then in the end, Guru Sahib tell us,

gur prasaadh naanak samadhrisattaa
gur prasaadh
, with the Guru’s Grace, naanak what has Nanak seen? Nanak has seen samadhrisattaa, sama means equal dhrisattaa means view. With God’s Grace I look upon everyone as the same, because I see God through everything.

God is the One who creates, God is the One who listens, God is the One who destroys, God is the One who nourishes, God is the One who touches, God is the One who is detached, God is the One who is unattached, God is the One who is attached, God is the One who speaks, God is the One who listens, God is the One who understands, God is through everything and everything is in God.

That is what this Hukamnama is about. It is about understanding that all is God. ik oa(n)kaar there is One Eternal Creative being permeating through everything,
