Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
Today the hukamnama is by Bhagat Namdev Ji Maharaj in Dhanasree Raag Ang 692 from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.
Bhagat ji is talking to us in Dhanasree Raag, to free us from our anxieties. Bhagat says ik-onkaar satgur parsaad. There is one creative, destructing nourishing being, who is found by the Grace of Satguru - the true Guru.
gahree kar kai neev khudaa-ee oopar mandap chhaa-ay - Gehri means deep and karke means by doing and Neev means foundation, khudayi means digging. Bhagat Ji says that we people, what we do is, for our houses we dig deep foundations and on top of those houses we have mandaps - high rising buildings. We build these great big palaces for ourselves as if we are to remain forever. We build all these palaces as if we are going to remain till the end of the time - eternal.
Then Bhagat ji says maarkanday tay ko aDhikaa-ee jin tarin Dhar moond balaa-ay.
Can anyone live longer than Markanda? There was a saint in Indian mythology, his name was Markanda and he had a very, very long life. But through out his whole life he never lived in a house made of bricks.
Tarin means hay, Dhar - above, moond balaa-ay - to cover. He passed his days always under a roof made up of straw - hay, which reminded him that he was as impermanent as the place he lived in, that his life was always going to end. Bhagat Ji says are you going to live forever? Well, you are not. If you are going to be here for a certain time, you got to do - then you have got to realize, hamro kartaa raam sanayhee. - Humro - mine; karta - creator; Ram - lord; sanehi - friend. You have to realize that your only friend eternally is Waheguru, is Ram, is Allah.
kaahay ray nar garab karat hahu binas jaa-ay jhoothee dayhee - why, ray nar - man; O human being why are you so proud? Garab means pride, ego. Karat means to do - Why are you so proud? Why you have so much ego? binas jaa-ay jhoothee dayhee || This body is only temporary. Binas jaye means pass away; Jhooti dehi means false body; this body is false and it will pass away.
O man O human being, why are you so egotistical about your body, its only temporary, its false, its going to pass away. Its going to die. You are going to have nothing left. Rahaao. - Guruji says pause and think about it. Bhagat ji says, one day you will have to leave this earth with nothing. mayree mayree kaira-o kartay durjoDhan say bhaa-ee.
In Indian mythology, there were two great families- the Pandavs and the Kauravas. The Kauravas were very egotistical, had lot of pride. Bhagat ji says they kept saying meri meri - everything is ours because they were very princely, powerful family and they owned half of India. Durjodhan - A great warrior - he was one of their brothers - they said they have got Durjodhan on their side who was one of the greatest warriors of their time, so no one could defeat us.
baarah jojan chhatar chalai thaa dayhee girjhan khaa-ee. - But what happened in the end - Namdev ji says Barah Jojan means sixty miles; chattar chaley tha - royal procession - royal parade extended 60 miles long. In the end they were killed in the battle and dayhee girjhan khaa-ee Dayhee means body; girjan means vultures; khayee - eaten; even their bodies were eaten by vultures. Even their bodies rotted. Bhagat ji is saying no matter how high you go, you are going to end up in the same place - in the graveyard, in the cemetery. Realize your soul is eternal, your body is not. sarab so-in kee lankaa hotee raavan say aDhikaa-ee. Sarab all gold, completely filled with gold; lankaa hotee ; According to the Indian mythology it says that when Ravan was the king of Sri Lanka, all of the Sri Lanka was covered in gold. Bhagat ji says that who can be greater king than Ravan? Ravan is said to have thousands of sons and daughters, and thousands of grandsons and granddaughters. How can anyone be stronger than him? But what happened to him in the end? He was killed by Ram.
kahaa bha-i-o dar baaNDhay haathee khin meh bha-ee paraa-ee. Kahan Bhayio - what happened to him?. Bhagat ji says that when he was killed by Ram, dar bandhe haathi - what happened to the elephants that were tied to the gate? Khin meh - in one instant; bha-ee paraa-eei - everything belonged to someone else. Everything - he lost. He lost everything in just one instant. As soon as he closed his eyes, his soul left his body - he lost the entire kingdom that he had built up
durbaasaa si-o karat thag-uree jaadav ay fal paa-ay.
Another great family from that mythological times were the Yaadavs in which Sri Krishan was born.
Durbasa was a saint of that time. And Yadavs played a trick on Durbasa.Thagauree means to deceive someone. They deceived Darbasa. And as a curse Durbasa said that there will be no more future generations after Yaadavs. So after Krishan there were no more Yadavs, the whole family lineage was wiped out. Bhagat Ji is saying that into that great generation in which Sri Krishan ji was born even that lineage was gone.
But in the end Bhagat ji says that kirpaa karee jan apunay oopar naamday-o har gun gaa-ay, jan means servant, apunay oopar means upon his own; Upon his own servant what the Lord has done? kirpa - he blessed his servant - he has shown mercy upon his servant. And what has he got Namdev to do? naamday-o har gun gaa-ay - har means Waheguru, gun means praises and gaaye means singing - Namdev is blessed with gift of singing God’s praises. That’s the only thing which can save us.
Jin nar naam tuhara kaha darid dushat dokh te raha. Those who repeat the name of God, Guru Gobind Singh ji says in Chaupayee Sahib, darid means pain; dushst means enemy; dokh means any type of pain; cannot come near them.
In Akal Ustat Guru Gobind Singh ji says, ek shin theahoo - even for one instant with mind body and soul, meditate upon the name of God; kaal phaas ke beech na aayao; you won’t have to be born again. You will be eternal.
