When God meets the God within the self, no one can separate them. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.

I gaze upon the Wondrous Lord, and listen to the Wondrous Lord; the Wondrous Lord has come into my vision.

The Perfect Lord and Master is pervading the water, the land and the sky, in each and every heart.

I have merged again into the One from whom I originated. The value of this cannot be described.

Nanak meditates on Him. ||4||2||

Today’s Hukamnama is by Guru Arjan Dev ji Maharaj in the Raag Soohee. This Raag is full of eternal love, love for the Almighty. Guru ji is saying :

har charan kamal kee ttaek sathigur dhithee thus kai bal raam jeeo
har kee ttaek - ttaek means support, guidance, charan kamal means Lotus Feet, the sathigur, the Sat Guru dhithee- who has given me thus this, the Guru has given me what ? the support of the Lotus Feet of God, means the God’s name is given to you, the Guru has given support, the only support which is eternal in this world, the Love of God’s Name and from this what happens?

har a(n)mrith bharae bha(n)ddaar sabh kishh hai ghar this kai bal raam jeeo
the bha(n)ddaar, the treasure, the overflowing treasure, the bharae bha(n)ddaar of a(n)mrith within you overflows sabh kishh hai ghar this kai bal raam jeeo - sabh kishh means everything, hai - is, ghar means the house of Lord, bal raam jeeo, bal means sacrifice, raam jeeo - God, I am a sacrifice to God whose name is overflowing with immortal nectar and within whom all treasures abound.

baabul maeraa vadd samarathhaa karan kaaran prabh haaraa
my baabul, baabul means father, maeraa - my, my Father is vadd samarathhaa, vadd means greatly, samarathhaa means knowing, powerful. My Father is all knowing, all powerful, because He is karan kaaran the Cause of all Causes and He is prabh haaraa - the doer of everything.

jis simarath dhukh koee n laagai bhoujal paar outhaaraa
jis simarath by meditating upon Whom, dhukh, dhukh means pain, koee n laagai - none touches me, none even goes near me bhoujal, bhou means fear, jal means water, so the ocean of fear around me of the world illusion, paar outhaaraa - to cross over. I cross over this ocean of fear with my Guru, because meditating upon my Guru, my Lord God, no pain can touch me, no pain can affect me.

aadh jugaadh bhagathan kaa raakhaa ousathath kar kar jeevaa
aadh jugaadh, in the beginning and throughout the ages till the end bhagathan kaa raakhaa, my Lord is the raakhaa is the protector of the bhagathan, the devotees, of those who love Him, his Beloved ousathath kar kar jeevaa I live jeevaa, by doing, kar kar means doing ousathath - praises by singing God’s praises I live, there is no other way I can live. The only way I am alive is by singing God’s praises.

naanak naam mehaa ras meet(h)aa anadhin man than peevaa
Naanak says, the naam, the name of God is mehaa ras the greatest essence on this earth, the sweetest, meet(h)aa means the sweetest, anadhin - day and night, man than means my mind and body, peevaa, may I drink this, then, in the second part of the Shabad, Guru ji says :

har aapae leae milaae kio vaeshhorraa thheevee bal raam jeeo
har aapae leae milaae, har means God, aapae - Himself, milaae means to join, to unite, God Himself is united me to Himself kio vaeshhorraa thheevee bal raam jeeo. kio means how vaeshhorraa means separation thheevee means to occur, how can any separation occur now, I have been joined to my Lord. I am a sacrifice to God, my Lord who I have been joined to. He has joined me Himself, there is no other way of being united to the Creator.

jis no thaeree ttaek so sadhaa sadh jeevee bal raam jeeo
jis no, to that person whom thaeree, your ttaek, support, that person who takes guidance from you, who takes all lessons in life from you, so, that person, sadhaa sadh means for ever and ever jeevee lives, so that person becomes eternal because they have the eternal support. Those people who have perishable support, perish themselves. bal raam jeeo, I am a sacrifice to you, Oh God !

thaeree ttaek thujhai thae paaee saachae sirajanehaaraa
But how do you acquire this? thaeree ttaek your support thujhai thae paaee, paaee means to find, thujhai thae from yourself. You alone can give me that support Oh God, why because you are saachae the True One sirajanehaaraa - the Creator of everything.

jis thae khaalee koee naahee aisaa prabhoo hamaaraa
jis thae khaalee koee naahee, jis thae from whom, khaalee means empty, koee naahee - no one. Thers is no one who God has not given to. God has given everyone, everything. aisaa means such prabhoo, Lord hamaaraa, mine. Such is my Lord, He helps everyone, even those people who ignore His existence, who deny His existence. He is even helping them breathe.

sa(n)th janaa mil ma(n)gal gaaeiaa dhin rain aas thumhaaree
sa(n)th janaa mil ma(n)gal gaaeiaa means meeting with the saints ma(n)gal gaaeiaa ma(n)gal means praises, gaaeiaa means to sing, I have sung the praises of God meeting with the saints dhin rain, day and night, aas means support, thumhaaree means yours. I have your support, day and night. All my hopes and prayers are in you God. I have given up all other worldly things.

safal dharas bhaettiaa gur pooraa naanak sadh balihaaree
safal dharas, dharas means meeting with God, union with, Darshan of God, vision of God, safal - fulfilling, satisfying, I have the satisfying vision of God, bhaettiaa, meeting with gur pooraa, the perfect Guru. naanak sadh balihaaree - Naanak is sadh, always a sacrifice to God.

sa(n)mhaliaa sach thhaan maan mehath sach paaeiaa bal raam jeeo
sa(n)mhaliaa - by doing God’s simran, by meditating upon God sach thhaan I have found my true home by praying upon the Lord, sach means true thhaan means home, I have found my true home which is within the Lord maan - I have received maan which is honour from God, mehath means meaning, greatness sach of the Truth paaeiaa means to find bal raam jeeo- I am a sacrifice to God Who has given me His True Home. So, the true honour, true greatness and Truth.

sathigur miliaa dhaeiaal gun abinaasee gaaeiaa bal raam jeeo
sathigur miliaa means to meet, sathigur means the True Guru dhaeiaal who is merciful, then what happened ? gun the praises abinaasee means imperishable gaaeiaa, to sing. When I met the True Guru, He was merciful upon me, He got me to sing the praises of the imperishable God. bal raam jeeo means again I am a sacrifice to God.

gun govi(n)dh gaao nith nith praan preetham suaameeaa
gun means praises govi(n)dh, the Lord of the Universe, go means the Lord, vi(n)dh means the seed, the seed of the Universe, God, gaao means to sing. Sing the praises of the Seed of the Universe, of the Lord of the Universe, nith nith again and again praan preetham suaameeaa, suaameeaa means Lord, praan means of the breath, preetham means Beloved. He is the Beloved Master of our breath. It is because of Him that we are breathing.

subh dhivas aaeae gehi ka(n)t(h) laaeae milae a(n)tharajaameeaa
subh dhivas means good times, fortunate times aaeae, to have come. Fortunate times have come for me, why? because gehi to meet me and ka(n)t(h) laaeae to hug me close, in terms of embrace, milae means in union, a(n)tharajaameeaa, the knower of all hearts, the knower of everything has got me into His embrace. It is indeed a good day.

sath sa(n)thokh vajehi vaajae anehadhaa jhunakaarae
sath means truth sa(n)thokh means fulfillment, contentment, vajehi vaajae instrument plays, the instruments of truth and contentment plays within my soul, anehadhaa the unstruck sound, the unstruck vibration jhunakaarae means to vibrate within me, Within me the unstruck sound current vibrates and is heard.

sun bhai binaasae sagal naanak prabh purakh karanaihaarae
sun bhai binaasae, listening to the sound current, sun, bhai means fear, binaasae is to be taken away, to be removed. Ones fears were removed upon listening to the sound current within me, sagal means all of my fears naanak Naanak says the Lord, prabh purakh karanaihaarae, God is the being who can do anything, karanaihaarae - who does everything.

oupajiaa thath giaan saahurai paeeeai eik har bal raam jeeo
oupajiaa - to be born, to be found, what has been found inside me ? thath giaan, thath means the essence, giaan means knowledge of, I found the essence of knowledge within me, and what is that ? saahurai paeeeai, in this world that we live in and in the next, eik har, there is one Lord. What is the spiritual essence ? It is Eik Oang Kaar - there is One Eternal Creating, Destroying, Nourishing Power, everywhere, in this world and the next and I am a sacrifice to that, bal raam jeeo.

brehamai breham miliaa koe n saakai bhi(n)n kar bal raam jeeo
When God, brehamai, meets breham miliaa, when God meets God, when the rain-drop meets the ocean, when fire meets the flame of the candle, koe means anyone, n saakai bhi(n)n kar means no one can separate the ocean from the rain-drop, the candle flame from the smouldering fire, because it is meeting anybody in itself, in essence, it is the same thing. Then Guru ji says, I am a sacrifice to the Lord, bal raam jeeo

bisam paekhai bisam suneeai bisamaadh nadharee aaeiaa
bisam paekhai bisam suneeai with my eyes I see, paekhai, the wondrous beauty of God, suneeai With my ears I listen to the wonders of God, bisamaadh means the wonders of God, nadharee means before me, aaeiaa to come. Before me, all around me, in every way possible, I experience God.

jal thhal meheeal pooran suaamee ghatt ghatt rehiaa samaaeiaa
jal thhal meheeal, In the water, in the land, and in the air, pooran suaamee means perfect Lord. My perfect Lord is in the water, the air and the land. ghatt ghatt means in each heart, within each heart, each being rehiaa, to remain, samaaeiaa means pervading. He is pervading through everything, through each heart, through each being, through each breath.

jis thae oupajiaa this maahi samaaeiaa keemath kehan n jaaeae
jis thae means from whom, oupajiaa to be created, from whom the soul was created, this means within maahi within that samaaeiaa to fall back in, or merged back in our soul was merged back in to where it was created from, keemath means value, the value of this, kehan - to be spoken, n jaaeae means cannot be. The value of going back into God, the value of the rain-drop going back into the ocean cannot be described. It is so great.

jis kae chalath n jaahee lakhanae naanak thisehi dhhiaaeae
jis kae means whose, chalath means play, deeds, actions, n jaahee, cannot be, lakhanae means understood. God whose actions cannot be understood, who is so great and beyond our human comprehension, He cannot be beloved. Guru Naanak, through Guru Arjan Dev ji says, naanak thisehi dhhiaaeae - Naanak meditates upon Him. Naanak meditates upon the One who cannot be grasped through knowledge but can only be grasped through Love. Love is the only web grasping on to Him. Love is the only way in reaching out to Him.
