Guru Arjan Dev ji Maharaj talks today in the Sorath Raag, ghar 2, in the 2nd house, dhupadhae, Dhupadhae, the shabad has 2 feet, 2 parts. Dhupadhae means 2 feet;
Guru Arjan Devji begins in the mangala charan, ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh. There is One, ik oa(n)kaar, creative, nourishing and destructive being, who is sath, forever true, gur prasaadh, and is found through the Guru’s prasaadh, Guru’s grace.
Then Guru Arjan Devji Maharaj ji says,
sagal banasapath mehi baisa(n)thar sagal dhoodhh mehi gheeaa
Thus Guru Sahib ji gives us an example, sagal banasapath mehi baisa(n)thar, in the banasapath, in all of firewood. Banasapath means firewood, sagal means all, in all the wood. Guru Sahib ji says mehi baisa(n)thar, there is fire contained, baisa(n)thar means fire. There is fire within all of the wood. Sagal dhoodhh mehi gheeaa. Sagal means all, dhoodhh means milk. In all milk there is gheeaa. Tthere is butter. Butter is within the milk; fire is within the wood .
ooch neech mehi joth samaanee ghatt ghatt maadhho jeeaa
Amongst the ooch, the high and the low, joth, the light of God, samaanee, is contained. Amongst the high and the low. Amongst all, the joth of Waheguru, the light of Waheguru shines and is contained. Ghatt ghatt maadhho jeeaa, ghatt means in all hearts, in all hearts of all creatures and beings, jeeaa, there is Waheguru ji. There is Akal Purakh in all.
Guru Sahib ji says,
sagal banasapath mehi baisa(n)thar sagal dhoodhh mehi gheeaa
There is butter within the milk; but in order to see the butter, in order to obtain that, you have to churn the milk first. There is fire within the wood, but in order to see the fire within the wood, you have to bring an external fire and create that first. If you want to see this ghatt ghatt maadhho jeeaa, this Waheguru, Akal Purakh in all, the joth samaanee in all, then what you have to do, like you have to churn the milk in order to get the butter, you must churn this mind with the Guru’s wisdom.
Then Guru Arjan Dev ji says, sa(n)thahu, saints, ghatt ghatt rehiaa samaahiou. Ghatt ghatt, in all hearts, rehiaa. Waheguru ji is in all hearts, samaahiou, pervading through all hearts, through everyone.
pooran poor rehiou sarab mehi
Pooran, the perfect Waheguru is poor, is complete, rahiou sarab mehi, in everything, in everyone. Jal thhal rameeaa aahiou, Waheguru is in the jal, in the water, and in the thhal, and in the land, aahiou, diffusing through everything, permeating through everything.
Rehaao, Pause and think about this point.
gun nidhhaan naanak jas gaavai sathigur bharam chukaaeiou
Nanak jas gaavai. Gaavai means to sing, jas means praises. Nanak sings the praises of the gun nidhhaan. Nidhhaan means treasure, gun means virtue. Of the treasure of virtue, Waheguru ji. Why? Because sathigur bharam chukaaeiou. Because sathigur, the True Guru, bharam chukaaeiou, chukaaeiou. Bharam means doubt. Because the Guru has removed all my doubts, so I sing the praises of Akal Purakh, Waheguru. Just as we have to churn the milk, to get the butter, so I fall at the feet of the Guru by churning the milk. So what happens? All the excess doubts that are in our minds are taken away, and the butter that Akal Purakh means to remove. wisdom is found.
sarab nivaasee sadhaa alaepaa sabh mehi rehiaa samaaeiou
Sarab nivaasee. Then what happens? What you see is sarab nivaasee. You see that Waheguru ji is sarab nivaasee, that Waheguru ji is pervading through sarab, through all, sadhaa alaepaa. But even though Waheguru ji is pervading through all, sadhaa alaepaa, he is forever, alaepaa, unattached to all this creation. Sabh mehi rehiaa samaaeiou. But even though Waheguru ji is unattached, sabh mehi rehiaa samaaeiou, He is permeating, samaaeiou, sabh mehi, through all.
Guru Sahibji today is telling us that Waheguru ji is pervading through all. Yet to see this, we have to follow the Guru’s wisdom and follow the Guru’s guidance. Just as the poet, Buleshah said,Bulea, rab tere toon wakh nahin, tere vekhan wali akh nahin, O Buleshah! God is not far away from you, yet you do not have the eyes to see Him. We have to realize that we must fall at the feet of the Guru, and we must take in the Guru’s guidance and the Guru’s wisdom, in order to see Waheguru permeating through all. And then, when we become blessed with the wisdom then like Bhai Kanaiya, the ghatt ghatt maadhho in all shine through.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
