Satguru Amardas Ji, the image of Sewa in the house of Guru Nanak speaks through Soohi Raag, the raag of love and says, “Soohai vays kaaman kulkhanee jo parabh chhod par purakh Dharay pi-aar.” The kaaman; the bride, who is dressed in the Soohai vays, vays means robe, soohai means red. Guruji says, “The Kaman might be dressed in red robes but she is kulkhanee; not virtuous, she is full of vice and deceit”, when? When jo parabh chhod par purakh Dharay pi-aar; when in her heart she has love for purakh; for another. Guruji is talking about the soul bride. Guruji is saying, “If we give up on our Guru, on Waheguru, and try to find peace elsewhere in this world of Maya, in this false illusion, we cannot find it.”
“Os seel na sanjam sadaa jhooth bolai manmukh karam khu-aar.” That soul bride who moves away from Waheguru Os seel na sanjam; that soul bride has no seel; has no honour, has no modesty, has no sanjam; has no discipline. And she sadaa jhooth bolai; she always lies. “Manmukh karam khu-aar” and that soul bride becomes a manmukh; a follower of their own mind and is khu-aar; is ruined due to their Karam, due to their past actions.
“Jis poorab hovai likhi-aa tis satgur milai bhataar.” That soul bride that is blessed with such poorab hovai likhi; with such destiny only that soul bride tis satgur milai bhataar; only that soul bride has the satguru; the true Guru as her own, as her bhataar, as her husband. Otherwise there are many fakes on this earth but only very few soul brides are blessed with meeting the true Guru.
“Soohaa vays sabh utaar Dharay gal pahirai khimaa seegaar.” Those soul brides who meet the Guru they utaar; remove all of their Soohaa vays; their red outwardly signs, all of the signs of these world, this illusion. Instead of wearing the false jewels that this world forces upon us, they wear the jewels of khimaa; of mercy and they become the seegar; the jewelry, the ornaments of that soul bride.
“Pay-ee-ai saahurai baho sobhaa paa-ay tis pooj karay sabh saisaar.” Pay-ee-ai means in our own house and saahurai means in the house of the in-laws. What Guruji is saying is that, “The soul that is blessed with the love of Akal purakh finds baho sobhaa; great honour and tis pooj karay sabh saisaar; everyone in the world worships that soul.”
“Oh ralaa-ee kisai dee naa ralai jis raavay sirjanhaar.” The one who is enjoying the raavay sirjanhaar; the creator Lord, the one who is imbued with love for Waheguru, that soul stands out form amongst the crowd because Oh ralaa-ee kisai dee naa ralai; that soul bride cannot just simply blend in with the crowd, that soul bride stands out.
“Naanak Gurmukh sadaa suhaaganee jis avinaasee purakh bhartaar.” Oh Nanak the Gurmukh; the one who follows the Guru is sadaa suhaaganee; is forever a happily married soul bride, Why? Because avinaasee purakh bhartaar; that soul bride has taken on the avinaasee; the never ending Waheguru as her Lord Husband.
Mehlaa 1. Guru Nanak Devji speaks as well.
“Soohaa rang supnai nisee bin taagay gal haar.” This soohaa rang; this red colour of the world, of this false illusion is like a supnai nisee; like a dream in the night. Bin taagay gal haar; it’s like a necklace without a string going through it. Guruji is saying, “It is of no use.”
“Sachaa rang majeeth kaa Gurmukh barahm beechaar.” But the Gurmukhs take on the sachaa rang; the true colour, majeeth kaa; the permenant colour which will never fade away, of barahm beechaar; of contemplating Waheguru. “Naanak paraym mahaa rasee sabh buri-aa-ee-aa chhaar.” Oh Nanak paraym mahaa rasee; through the great essence of love sabh buri-aa-ee-aa chhaar; all of the evil deeds of a person are burnt away. “Ih jag aap upaa-i-on kar choj vidaan.” Waheguruji aap; himself, created this world and kar choj vidaan; set up this wondrous, beautiful, mysterious play. “Panch Dhaat vich paa-ee-an moe jhooth gumaan.” Waheguruji created all these bodies out of panch Dhaat; the five elements. ”Vich paa-ee-an moe jhooth gumaan; Also into this body was infused Moh; attachment, jooth; falseness and gumaan; egotistical pride.
“Aavai jaa-ay bhavaa-ee-ai manmukh agi-aan.” The Manmukh is stuck in the darkness of agi-aan; in the darkness of ignorance aavai jaa-ay bhavaa-ee-ai comes and goes for ever and ever. “Iknaa aap bujhaa-i-on Gurmukh har gi-aan.” Only a few blessed souls are bujhaa-i-on; are led to understand by Wahehguru himself. By following the Guru and becoming Gurumuks, the souls obtain Hargiaan; the understanding of Hari; Waheguru. “Bhagat khajaanaa bakhsi-on har naam niDhaan.” Waheguruji bakhsi-on them; blesses them with Bhagat khajaanaa; the treasure of Bhagti, of devotion, of love, har naam niDhaan; and also with the treasure of har naam; the name of Waheguru, the name of Hari.
Guruji is saying to us, “Caste away all illusions and immerse yourself to the Waheguru.”
