Katha by Guruka Singh ji
Today’s hukam is spoken by Guru Arjan Dev ji in Raag Soohi and it speaks about the Sadh Sangat and its a verse in praise of the Sadh Sangat and it says that just by seeing the Sadh Sangat, all the karmas, all of the mistakes of the past are erased and being in the company of the Sadh Sangat, one crosses over the world ocean in peace.
And, he says that the Sadh Sangat are my true friends and my companions and they always inspire me to remember God. And hearing the divine Shabad, the peace that passes all understanding fills my mind and body and when I serve God, death cannot touch me. I live beyond death. And that peace soothes me and fills my mind, remembering the One and everyone fills me with radiance and light.
God ever protects, supports and makes His servants be graceful in the world. And Nanak ever seeks the protection of the Sadh Sangat and is forever a sacrifice unto them.
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
Katha by Sukha Singh ji
The Hukamnama is in the Soohi Raag and the Soohi Raag is a Raag of complete and utter love, complete utter divine ecstasy and spiritual love is embodied in this Raag.
And, in this spiritual ecstasy of love, Guru Arjan Dev ji says jaa kai daras paap kot utaaray, jaa kai, by whose, daras, daras means to see someone, darshan, by seeing someone having their vision, by seeing their form; paap means sins, kot means thousands of millions, utaaray means to be taken away, literally to be taken all. So the weight of all these sins, thousands of millions of sins, hundreds of millions of sins, they are taken off by having the perfect vision of these people. Guru Arjan Dev ji is saying, who are these people you may ask?
Guru ji goes on to say, bhaettath sa(n)g eihu bhavajal taarae, bhaettath means to meet, sa(n)g means in their company, eihu means they bhavajal means this terrifying world ocean; the ocean around us all the illusion and attachment, taarae means to cross us over. Meeting with those people, who are described in the first line, Guru Arjan Dev ji says not only millions of sins get erased, millions of bad things about us, filth from many, many lifetimes is erased, also by speaking with them, by being friends with them, by keeping their company, we swim over this terrifying world ocean. We get through this attachment, we get through this illusion.
Then someone says to Guru Arjan Dev ji, who are these great people? Then Guru ji says oue saajan oue meeth piaarae, oue means they, they are my friends, sajan, sajan means friend, companion, they are my companions, they are with me forever; oue meeth piaarae, they are my mitar, my friends, eternal, piaarae means beloved, they are my beloved friends
Who jo ham ko har naam chithaarae, jo, those, ham ko, to me, har naam, the name of God, chithaarae means to help remember; Guru ji says those people who inspire me to delve into God, into God’s greatness, those people who inspire me to see the illusion of maya around me and get in touch who really I am, those people are my friends; those people are beloved to me. I hold those people close to my heart. By being with those people, seeing those people my heart fills with joy. By seeing those people, by meeting them, by keeping their company, I cross over this world ocean. rehaao, Guru ji says pause and think about it today.
jaa kaa sabadh sunath sukh saarae, even the shabad that they say, jaa kaa of that person, shabad means word, mantra, sunath means listen, such saarae, saarae means all, such means peace, again all people are at peace by listening to the word of His Shabad.
jaa kee ttehal jamadhooth bidhaarae, jaa kee means for whom, ttehal means sewa, service, jamadhooth bidhaarae, bidhaarae means to chase away, jamadhooth means messengers of death, by doing the sewa of those people, by doing their service, even the messengers of death, even they are vanquished by me.
Then Guru ji says jaa kee dhheerak eis manehi sadhhaarae, dhheerak means comfort, when they give me comfort through Naam, through simran, through the words they say, through the inspiration they give me, eis manehi sadhhaarae, sadhhaarae means to completely clean and refurbish, eis manehi, this mind, when I listen to their words, and I have their comfort in my heart, it cleans me inside out.
jaa kai simaran mukh oujalaarae, by remembering God, simran, by doing His meditation, with these great people, mukh, my face is oujalaarae, oujalaarae means radiant, bright, shining. Jini Naam Dhiaya, gaye musakat ghal, Nanak tae mukh ujale, kete chotti naal, Guru ji says those people who have done simran, those people who have connections to God, gaye musakat ghal, they have done the greatest thing that they could do in this life, Nanak tae mukh ujale, kete chotti naal, Guru Nanak Dev ji says even the people who have met those people, who spoken to those people, who had the chance to eat with those people, to sit with those people, to do sewa with those people, to hang out with those people, even the people who were there next to them, even their faces are radiant. The Truth cannot be contained and it spreads. It spreads, not just through someone’s face, but through the way they look at someone, through their eyes you can see the love radiating, through the person who belongs to God.
prabh kae saevak prabh aap savaarae, prabh means God, seavak means servant, those servants of God, prabh aap savaarae, God Himself, aap means Himself, savaarae means look after, God Himself looks after His servants, there is no need for them to worry about anything.
saran naanak thinh sadh balihaarae, saran means protection, and Guru Arjan Dev ji is saying Nanak seeks the protection of these people, thinh sadh balihaarae, I am forever sadh, sadh means forever, balihaarae means to sacrifice, I sacrifice myself to these people again and again and again forever and ever and ever, thousands of million times, every second, I sacrifice to these people.
Guru Arjan Dev ji is saying to us, in another part of the Guru Granth Sahib, O Nanak, stay away from people who are false, find the true friends, who are the saints, who are the ones who are connected to the Naam, who have the spark of God in their hearts; those people who are fake, who are in the illusion, you will lose contact with them most of your life, but the people who are true, the saints who are connected, even after you die, you will have that connection; they do not even leave you after death, even there they have that connection.
So, Guru ji is saying find those people, do their sewa, connect with them and everything will be fine with the Guru’s grace.
oue saajan oue meeth piaarae, jo ham ko har naam chithaarae
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
