sa(n)than kai suneeath prabh kee baath ||
I listen to God’s Teachings from the Saints.

kathhaa keerathan aana(n)dh ma(n)gal dhhun poor rehee dhinas ar raath ||1|| rehaao ||
The Lord’s Sermon, the Kirtan of His Praises and the songs of bliss perfectly resonate, day and night. ||1||Pause||

kar kirapaa apanae prabh keenae naam apunae kee keenee dhaath ||
In His Mercy, God has made them His own, and blessed them with the gift of His Name.

aat(h) pehar gun gaavath prabh kae kaam krodhh eis than thae jaath ||1||
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of God. Sexual desire and anger have left this body. ||1||

I am satisfied and satiated, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God’s Darshan. I eat the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord’s sublime food.

Today’s hukamnama is in the Bilaaval Raag and is by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The Bilaaval Raag is the Raag of complete and utter happiness. Happiness, which comes from inside, happiness which is like a stream of laughter. The Bilaaval Raag is the embodiment of celestial happiness. Guru Arjan Dev Ji is talking to us in his beautiful, soothing tone of happiness

Santan kai sunee-at parabh kee baat

Kai means from; from the saints, sunee-at parabh kee baat. I have heard, I have listened to, I am listening to sunee-at. Parabh kee baat, Parabh means the Lord, kee means of, baat means teachings, words, knowledge. From the saints I listen to and acquire this knowledge of the Lord, how to find the Lord.

Kathaa keertan aanand mangal Dhun poor rahee dinas ar raat. ||1|| rahaa-o

In the congregation of the saints, there is kathaa, kathaa means there is discourse, explanation of God’s wisdom. And not only is there discourse on the Lord, on how to get to the Lord, there is keertan, the singing of the praises of the Lord, which is the way to get to the Lord. aanand mangal, mangal means the songs of, and aanand means celestial bliss. dhun means vibration, dinas ar raat means day and night. poor rahee means they continually resonate. Through the kathaa, the Lord’s discourse, the teachings of the Lord; through the keertan the praises of the Lord, the celestial songs of celestial peace resonate and vibrate day and night in the society of the saints, where the saints sit. That vibration resonates all the time. rahaa-o, pause and think about this.

Kar kirpaa apnay parabh keenay naam apunay kee keenee daat

God has done kirpa, given His mercy, showered His grace upon us. God has blessed those saints, God has shown mercy upon them apunay, He has made them His own. What does that mean? Apnay, means to make them one with Him. He has brought them within Himself. parabh keenay the Lord Himself has done this. How? naam apunay kee keenee daat, daat means the gift of, naam apunay means of his name. God has given them the gift. Keenee means to give. He has given them the gift of His own Name. Through meditating on the Naam, they become one with the Lord.

Aath pahar gun gaavat parabh kay kaam kroDh is tan tay jaat. ||1||

Aath pahar means 24 hours a day, gun gavat parabh kay, gun means praises, gavat means to sing. They sing the praises of the Lord 24-7, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And what happens when they sing the praises, and connect to the vibration of the Naam? Kaam kroDh is tan tay jaat, all desires kaam, all anger krodh is means this, tan means body, jaat means leave. By singing the praises of the Lord, by singing the kathaa, the keertan, by joining with the society of the saints, all lust, all desires, all anger leaves this body, and the body goes into complete peace.

Taripat aghaa-ay paykh parabh darsan amrit har ras bhojan khaat

When the desires and the greed and the attachment and the ego leave this body, you become taripat aghaa-ay, which means, you become completely satisfied, there are no desires left. We may think satisfaction comes from material things, but satisfaction comes when we kill our desire. Because our desire does not let us be satisfied, it doesn’t let us be satiated. Taripat aghaa-ay paykh parabh darsan. You become satisfied when paykh parabh darsan, darsan means the blessed vision, parabh means the Lord, and paykh means by seeing. When you see God inside yourself, and God inside everyone else, that is truly having the darsan, that is truly having the blessed vision of the Lord. When this happens, all your desires break, and you become satisfied. And then what happens? Amrit har ras, amrit means the immortal nectar, and har raas, which means the essence of God. The ambrosial nectar, the sweet purifying nectar of God’s love becomes the food that you eat. Bhojan means food and khaat means to eat. When you eat the food of God’s love, you feel that nectar inside you. Once you feel that nectar, you feel completely satisfied.

Charan saran naanak parabh tayree kar kirpaa satsang milaat. ||2||4||84||

Oh God, Nanak, parabh means Lord, Nanak is in your charan saran, saran means protection. Charan means feet, lotus feet. I have come into your protection of Lord, and I only ask for this: Please do kirpa upon me, please shower your praise upon me. Milaat means unite me. Cause me to meet with the satsang, sang means the society of, sat means the holy saints.

May this be our ardaas today, and may we also ask from God that we meet into the society of the holy saints. By meeting with the satsangat may we also experience this bliss, this anand mangal, and this love that Guru Arjan Dev Ji is sharing with us today.
