Guru Arjun Devji Maharaj is talking to us today through the raag Sorath in the ghar 2 and in cha-upday; in four parts. Sahib Siri Guru Arjun Devji Maharaj sings the praises of Waheguruji in sorath raag. This is a raag in which, classically, the singers would sing the praises of the kings and the emperors but Guruji is the court singer of Akal Purakh. Guruji sings the praises only of Waheguru.
Guruji says, “Ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.” There is one eternal being, who is true; sat, for ever and is found through the gur parsaad; through the grace of the Guru.
“Ayk pitaa aykas kay ham baarik too mayraa gur haa-ee.” Ayk pita; the one is my father, the oneness is my father, aykas kay ham baarik; we are the children, the sons and daughters, of that one Waheguru, too mayraa gur haa-ee, haa-ee means great, Oh Guru Sahibji you are my great Guru. We are all the children of Akal Purakh. We are all the sons and daughters of Waheguru.
“Sun meetaa jee-o hamaaraa bal bal jaasee.” Oh my meetaa; oh my friends listen, my soul, hamaaraa jee-o bal bal jaasee; is a sacrifice again and again. “Har darsan dayh dikhaa-ee.” Please bless me the blessed vision of hari; of Waheguru, of Akal. “Sun meetaa Dhooree ka-o bal jaa-ee.” Sun meetaa; listen oh my friends dhooree ka-o bal jaa-ee; I am a sacrifice to the dust of your feet. “Ih man tayraa bhaa-ee.” Oh my brother; oh my bhai, oh my Guru ih man tayraa; this mind is yours.
“Rahaa-o.” Guruji says, “Pause and think about this.” Have we given our mind to the Guru sahib.
“Paav malovaa mal mal Dhovaa.” Paav means feet, malovaa means to massage, mal mal dhovaa means to clean them again and again. I massage your feet and clean them again and again, I wash them because “ih man tai koo daysaa”, I want to give this mind to you. “Sun meetaa ha-o tayree sarnaa-ee aa-i-aa parabh mila-o dayh updaysaa.” Listen oh my friend I have come into your sanctuary, but why? So that parabh mila-o; so that I may unite with God, with prabhu, dayh updaysaa; give me that message that wisdom, that blessing, that teaching through which I can meet God. Here comes the teaching in the next line: “Maan na keejai saran pareejai karai so bhalaa manaa-ee-ai.” Maan means pride; “Do not have ego, do not have pride”, Guruji says but instead “saran pareejai; go into Waheguruji’s protection, into Waheguruji’s sanctuary.” “Karai so bhalaa manaa-ee-ai; whatever Waheguruji does accept that as good for you.” Even if it seems to you that it is not good for you it is still good!
“Sun meetaa jee-o pind sabh tan arpeejai i-o darsan har jee-o paa-ee-ai.” Oh listen my friend, jee-o pind sabh tan arpeejai; the only way to meet is to give up your soul, your body and all of your being. Dedicate everything to Waheguru. “I-o darsan har jee-o paa-ee-ai.” In this way you will find, you will be blessed with the blessed vision of Waheguru ji.
“Bha-i-o anoograhu parsaad santan kai.” Through the parsaad santan kai; grace of the saints I am Bha-i-o anoograhu; I am blessed with mercy. With the grace of the saints I have been blessed with this great gift. What is this great gift? “Har naamaa hai meethaa.” Har naamaa; the name of Waheguru, seems meetaa to me, seems sweet to me. “Jan naanak ka-o gur kirpaa Dhaaree.” Upon jan Nanak, upon servant Nanak, Guru has showered; had dhaaree his kirpa, his grace, his blessing. “Sabh akul niranjan deethaa.” Everywhere I look I see akul; that Waheguru who is above all family and relationships, He is niranjan; above all taints and above of doers, the completely immaculate Waheguru; I have deethaa; I have seen Him. I have seen that my Waheguruji lives in all, He shines through all.
May Guru Sahib do kirpa on us and we all realise that we are all brothers and sisters, we are all one, we are all joined together in His love.
