Guru Nanak pathsha ji speaks today in the Dhanaasree Raag, the Raag of complete relaxation of the soul and Guru ji says,
nadhar karae thaa simariaa jaae, nadhar karae, if Waheguru ji karae blesses us with His nadar, with His Grace, thaa, only then simariaa jaae, can we simariaa can we meditate upon Waheguru.
aathamaa dhravai rehai liv laae, aathamaa dhravai, dhravai means to be softened, aathmaa means soul, once the soul is softened through kindness, through generosity, through love, when you feel the pain of others, when you feel that you must help the world and serve the world, rehai liv laae, only then can you rahai, remain liv, in your consciousness, laae means to be attached to Waheguru, only then can your consciousness remain attached to Waheguru.
aathamaa paraathamaa eaeko karai, then what happens? When this happens aathamaa, your soul and paraathamaa, the supreme soul, Waheguru, eaeko karai, becomes eaeko, become one.
a(n)thar kee dhubidhhaa a(n)thar marai, a(n)thar means within you, dhubidhhaa means to have duality, duality means to be in two minds, to be told between right and wrong, lightness and darkness, left and right, when you become eaeko, when you become one, then this duality dies; a(n)thar marai, within you Guru ji says, a(n)thar means inside, internally, this internal confusion and this internal battlefield of mind, is overcome and is won; because you have become one, that means you win in the end. Only that person who is “one” has truly “won” anything in this world.
gur parasaadhee paaeiaa jaae, only through the guru’s parasaadhee, the Guru’s Grace, paaeiaa jaae can we paaeiaa, can we find Waheguru.
har sio chith laagai fir kaal n khaae, Guru Nanka Dev ji says har sio chith laagai, if your chith, if your consciousness laagai is attached to har sio, to Waheguru, fir then what happens, kaal n khaae, you are not khaae, you are not devoured by kaal, by death, by time, by any of these restrictions, because you go into akal, one who is beyond all of these; rehaao, Guru ji says pause and think about this.
sach simariai hovai paragaas, those people who simariai, who meditate upon the sach, upon the truth, hovai paragaas, those people are lightened, those people are enlightened, paragaas means literally to be lit up; those people are lit up with glow of God’s Grace.
thaa thae bikhiaa mehi rehai oudhaas, thaa thae, then what do they do? bikhiaa mehi, they live in the bikhiaa, in this poison, in this world, in this illusion around us, but they rehai oudhaas, but they remain oudhaas means unattached, detached from the world.
sathigur kee aisee vaddiaaee, the vaddiaaee, the greatness of the sathigur, True Guru is aisee, is like this.
puthr kalathr vichae gath paaee, vichae means amongst, puthr kalathr means children, families, in this world, gath means liberation, paaee means find, those people who are going to be liberated by the Guru will be liberated while living in this world, whilst they are part of this world, they do not have to leave the world. That is the greatness of Guru Nanak’s path.
aisee saevak saevaa karai, aisee means in such way, the saevak, the servant saevaa karai, performs sewa, performs selfless service.
jis kaa jeeo this aagai dhharai, what is the way of performing sewa? Guru Nanak Dev ji says, jis kaa means whose, jeeo means the soul, this aagai dhharai, to put in front; this soul, the servant who is truly serving God, puts his soul in front of God, puts everything he has on the line; just like Bhai Matidas, just like Bhai Satidas, just like Bhai Dayala, just like all those countless people.
saahib bhaavai so paravaan, the saevak, the servant who bhaavai, who pleases the saahib, the Lord, he or she is paravaan, paravaan means is to be accepted, to be anointed, to be blessed.
so saevak dharageh paavai maan, that seavak, that servant, that beloved one, dharageh, in the court of Waheguru, paavai maan, paavai means to receive, maan means honor, is honored in the court of Waheguru.
sathigur kee moorath hiradhai vasaaeae, that servant, that beloved one vasaaeae keeps the moorath, the image of the sathiguru, the True Guru in his hiradhai , in his heart with him at all times, externally and internally he carries the image of the Guru. Then what happens?
jo eishhai soee fal paaeae, he paaeae he receives the fal, the fruits, the rewards, jo eishhai, which he desires.
saachaa saahib kirapaa karai, if the saachaa saahib, the True, saachaa means true, saahib means Lord, if the True Lord kirpaa karai, blesses that servant with His mercy
so saevak jam thae kaisaa ddarai how come that saevak, how come that servant ever be ddarai, ever be afraid of jam thae from the angels of death, how come the fear of death ever enter that person.
bhanath naanak karae veechaar, Nanak prays, karae veechaar and contemplates this within His mind
saachee baanee sio dhharae piaar, May Waheguru bless us with piaar, with love for the saachee baanee, for the True Word of the Guru; dhharae means to keep within you, may we keep within us true love for the True Word.
thaa ko paavai mokh dhuaar, only then will you paavaifind the dhuaar, the Gate of mokh, of liberation.
jap thap sabh eihu sabadh hai saar, saar means the essence, eihu sabadh means this shabad, the shabad is the essence of all jap, all meditation, all thap, all practices, sabh means all, the shabad is the best practice of all practices, Guru ji is telling us to meditate upon the shabad.
In this Hukamnama, Guru Nanak Dev ji says meditate upon the beautiful wondrous shabad and you will be absorbed into the beautiful wondrous One.
gur parasaadhee paaeiaa jaae|| har sio chith laagai fir kaal n khaae ||1|| rehaao ||
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
