Guru Amardas ji Maharaj speaks in the Bilaval Raag, the Raag of happiness, joy and Guru ji says
athul kio tholiaa jaae, Waheguru is athul, Waheguru is unfathomable, unmeasurable, by any measure, thul means weight. No one can measure Waheguru, kio tholiaa jaae, how can you tholiaa, how can you measure Waheguru, there is no way of measuring Him.
dhoojaa hoe th sojhee paae, Guru Amar Das ji says we can only measure things that are relative to other things. Certain things can only be measured, certain weights can only be measured, in its relative weights to other weights. But, Guru ji says, dhoojaa hoe th sojhee paae, dhoojaa, only if there was someone else of the stature of Waheguru, th sojhee paae, then we could understand Him through these menial means, through these lowly means.
this thae dhoojaa naahee koe, Guru ji says there is no dhoojaa, there is no other, naahee, koe, at all.
this dhee keemath kikoo hoe, then Guru Sahib ji says, this dhee keemath, how can the value, kikoo hoe means how, how can the value of Waheguru, who is ultimate, who is infinite, who is far reaching into our soul, how can Waheguru ji’s value ever be estimated, ever be guessed, ever be measured? Guru ji leaves this question, because there is no answer, because He cannot be fathomed. Guru ji says, Waheguru cannot be fathomed, but
gur parasaadh vasai man aae, through the Guru’s parasaadh, through the Guru’s grace, vasai, Waheguru can come to dwell in your man, in your mind, in your soul.
thaa ko jaanai dhubidhhaa jaae, you can only jaanai, you can only become one with Waheguru, you can only realize your enlightenment, if your dhubidhhaa, the duality within you, which pulls you in different directions, jaae, goes, rehaao, Guru ji says pause and think about this.
aap saraaf kasavattee laaeae, Guru Amar Das ji says Waheguru Himself is the saraaf, saraaf here means someone who measures things, kasavattee laaeae, who laaeae, who attaches the kasavattee, the touch-stone of Truth to test everyone.
aapae parakhae aap chalaaeae, Waheguru Himself parakhae, analyzes everyone, aap chalaaeae, and Waheguru chalaaeae, controls and creates everything.
aapae tholae pooraa hoe, Waheguru Himself tholae, tholae means to weigh, pooraa hoe, means perfectly. Waheguru Himself weighs everything perfectly.
aapae jaanai eaeko soe, Waheguru Himself jaanai, knows, no one else knows the immeasurable secret, God. All we can say is Waheguru, You are Great! You can never fathom Him, eaeko soe, because Hi is One, infinite.
maaeiaa kaa roop sabh this thae hoe, Guru ji says all the roop, all the forms of maya, all this illusion around us, sabh, all of them, this thae hoe, originate from Waheguru.
jis no maelae s niramal hoe, but that person who He maelae, who Waheguru ji unites with Himself becomes niramal, becomes pure.
jis no laaeae lagai this aae, only that person who Waheguru ji Himself laaeae, attaches, lagai this aae, attaches to Waheguru.
sabh sach dhikhaalae thaa sach samaae, when Waheguru reveals, dhikhaalae, to that person that everything is sach, everything contains that essence of the Truth, of the permanent Truth of Waheguru. Then what hapens, thaa, then, sach samaae, that person’s mind is absorbed into the Truth, the sach, the ultimate Truth.
aapae liv dhhaath hai aapae, Waheguru Himself is the liv, is this undying love within each person, this thirst within each person to reach God. But, Waheguru Himself dhhaath hai aapae, Waheguru Himself is the dhhaath, Waheguru Himself causes the rat race around us, in which we chase after this illusion.
aap bujhaaeae aapae jaapae, Waheguru himself bujhaaeae, reveals Himself to us, only then, aapae jaapae, only then we meditate upon Himself.
aapae sathigur sabadh hai aapae, Waheguru Himself is the True Guru, sabadh hai aapae, Waheguru Himself is the shabadh, is the Word.
naanak aakh sunaaeae aapae, Waheguru Himself, Guru Amar Das ji says O Nanak, aakh sunaaeae aapae, Waheguru Himself aakh, speaks, sunaaeae aapae and lets us listen to His ambrosial immortal words.
Guru Amar Das ji in this shabad is tellling us that it is all One, it is all emanating from the One, and without the One there is no other.
gur parasaadh vasai man aae || thaa ko jaanai dhubidhhaa jaae ||1|| rehaao ||
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
