English translation of the daily Hukamnama.

Sorat’h, Fifth Mehla:

nwil nrwiexu myrY ]
naal naraaein maerai ||
The Lord is always with me.

jmdUqu n AwvY nyrY ]
jamadhooth n aavai naerai ||
The Messenger of Death does not approach me.

kMiT lwie pRB rwKY ]
ka(n)t(h) laae prabh raakhai ||<
God holds me close in His embrace, and protects me.

siqgur kI scu swKY ]1]
sathigur kee sach saakhai ||1||
True are the Teachings of the True Guru. ||1||

guir pUrY pUrI kIqI ]
gur poorai pooree keethee ||
The Perfect Guru has done it perfectly.

dusmn mwir ivfwry sgly dws kau sumiq dIqI ]1] rhwau ]
dhusaman maar viddaarae sagalae dhaas ko sumath dheethee ||1|| rehaao ||
He has beaten and driven off my enemies, and given me, His slave, the sublime understanding of the neutral mind. ||1||Pause||

pRiB sgly Qwn vswey ]
prabh sagalae thhaan vasaaeae ||
God has blessed all places with prosperity.

suiK sWid iPir Awey ]
sukh saa(n)dh fir aaeae ||
I have returned again safe and sound.

nwnk pRB srxwey ]
naanak prabh saranaaeae ||
Nanak has entered God’s Sanctuary.

ijin sgly rog imtwey ]2]24]88]
jin sagalae rog mittaaeae ||2||24||88||
It has eradicated all disease. ||2||24||88||

Guru Maharaj Guru Arjun Dev ji is talking to us today in the sorath raag. This most over-powering raag full of emotion, full of love for Waheguru ji. In this raag Guru Arjun Devji says,

naal naraaein maerai
Naal means to be with, naraain means Waheguru, mayrai means with me. Guruji says, “Waheguru is always with me.” The thing is Waheguru is always with us but we need to realize this.

jamadhooth n aavai naerai
Jamdoot means the messenger the death, na aavai means to not come, nayrai means close. How can the messengers of death even approach me when Waheguru is with me all the time? What Guru Arjun Dev ji is saying is, “If you realize you are one with that immortal Waheguru.” If you take down the wall of falsehood around you then any of us can realize that we are immortal and death can never touch us. Because everything that is truly us is immortal.

Guruji then says, ka(n)t(h) laae prabh raakhai Kanth laa-ay means close, in His embrace, parabh means Waheguru, raakhai means to protect. Waheguru hold me close in His embrace and protects me.

sathigur kee sach saakhai
Satgur means the true Guru, kee means of, Sach saakhai means true are the teachings, true is the wisdom. Then Guruji tells us how we can realize all these things. He says, “True is the wisdom of the true Guru.” The wisdom that has blessed me with the knowledge that God is always with me, that God is within me.

The perfect Guru has done everything perfectly. dhusaman maar viddaarae sagalae dhaas ko sumath dheethee.  Dusman means enemies, maar vidaaray means to be beaten up, saglay means all, daas means slave, suman means understanding deetee means to give. Waheguru ji has driven away all of my enemies. To His slave He has given this understanding, this divine knowledge. Guruji is talking about the enemies within, Kaam; lust, Krodh; anger, Lobh; greed, Moh; attachment, Ahnkaar; ego. Guruji is saying, “Waheguru ji has beaten these enemies away from me! Waheguru ji has also given me this divine knowledge.”

Guruji says, rehaao“Pause and think about this.”

prabh sagalae thhaan vasaaeae
Parabh means Waheguru, saglay means all, thaan means places, vasaa-ay means to bless. Waheguru ji has blessed all places. Waheguru ji is in all places and has blessed all places. 

sukh saa(n)dh fir aaeae
Sukh saand means safe and sound, fir aa-ay means to return. “Safe and sound I’ve returned to my true state of being which is one with God.”

Guru Arjun Devji says, naanak prabh saranaaeae
Nanak has taken the protection of the true Guru, of Waheguru. Nanak has entered God’s protection. Nanak is in God’s protection. Why? Because by entering Waheguru ji’s protection  

jin sagalae rog mittaaeae
Saglay rog means all diseases, mitaa-ay means are eradicated, are taken away, are decimated; whether it’s diseases of the body, weather it’s disease of the mind, whether its diseases that attach to maya, all are taken away by entering into God’s protection.

Guru Arjun Dev ji is saying to us, “Follow the Guru and He will bless you as He has blessed me. The perfect Guru will do it perfectly for you as well.”

Gur poorai pooree keethee. Dhusaman maar viddaarae sagalae dhaas ko sumath dheethee.Rehaao
