maath garabh mehi haathh dhae raakhiaa ||
Extending His Hand, the Lord protected you in your mother’s womb.

hir rsu Coif ibiKAw Plu cwiKAw ]1]
har ras shhodd bikhiaa fal chaakhiaa ||1||
Renouncing the sublime essence of the Lord, you have tasted the fruit of poison. ||1||

bhaj gobidh sabh shhodd ja(n)jaal ||
Meditate, vibrate on the Lord of the Universe, and renounce all entanglements

jab jam aae sa(n)ghaarai moorrae thab than binas jaae baehaal ||1|| rehaao ||
When the Messenger of Death comes to murder you, O fool, then your body will be shattered and helplessly crumble. ||1||Pause||

qnu mnu Dnu Apnw kir QwipAw ]
than man dhhan apanaa kar thhaapiaa ||
You hold onto your body, mind and wealth as your own

krnhwru iek inmK n jwipAw ]2]
karanehaar eik nimakh n jaapiaa ||2||
and you do not meditate on the Creator Lord, even for an instant. ||2||

mhw moh AMD kUp pirAw ]
mehaa moh a(n)dhh koop pariaa ||
You have fallen into the deep, dark pit of great attachment.

pwrbRhmu mwieAw ptil ibsirAw ]3]
paarabreham maaeiaa pattal bisariaa ||3||
Caught in the illusion of Maya, you have forgotten the Supreme

vaddai bhaag prabh keerathan gaaeiaa ||
By great good fortune, one sings the Kirtan of God’s Praises.

In the Society of the Saints, Nanak has found God. ||4||11||16||

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh! 

The hukmnama today is by Guru Arjan dev ji in  Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. In the raag of happiness, the raag of joy, of ecstacy, bihalavaal. Guru Arjan Dev Maharaj says.

maath garabh mehi haathh dhae raakhiaa In the graabh in the womb of the mother maath,  mehi haathh dhae raakhiaa, Waheguru ji raakhiaa  protects you with his own hand, with his own heart, within that place, within that space, Oh Waheguru!

har ras shhodd bikhiaa fal chaakhiaa But as soon as you enter this world, what do you do? Har ras shhodd, shhodd, you turned away from the har ras, the ras, the essence of hari, of Waheguru, of God. Bikhaiaa fal chaakhiaa. And you fell in love, you got attached to the fal, to the fruit, to the bikhaiaa, to the poison, as soon as you chaakhiaa, as soon as you have tasted it.   As soon as you tasted  the poison, you gave up the truth.

Guruji Is saying, bhaj gobidh sabh shhodd ja(n)jaal  Meditate upon Waheguru who is gobidh, who is the Seed of the Universe. Sabh shhodd ja(n)jaal. Give up all these jan(n)jaal, all these entanglements.

jab jam aae sa(n)ghaarai moorrae thab than binas jaae baehaal When jam, when the Messengers of Death, aae, will come to take you away, sa(n)ghaarai moorrae, when the Messenger of Death,  moorrae,thab than binas jaae baehaal, then your than, your body, will bnas jaae, will fall apart, baehaal, will crumble, and shatter and fall apart, comes to take you away, comes to destroy you,

Guruji says, rehaao, Pause and think about this.

than man dhhan apanaa kar thhaapiaa You see this than, this body, this man, this mind, this dhhan,thhaapiaa, it is yours. this wealth, 

karanehaar eik nimakh n jaapiaa You n jaapiaa, you do not meditate, not for one minute, not even for one instant, upon kraanehaar, upon Waheguru, who does everything, who is karanehaar, who is actually doing everything.

mehaa moh a(n)dhh koop pariaa The mortal  has fallen into the a(n)dhh koop, into the deep, dark koop pit of mehaa moh, great attachment.

paarabreham maaeiaa pattal bisariaa The mortal has been caught in the pattal, in the  illusion of maya, in the illusion of falsehood around us, of this transitory world. And the mortal has bisariaa, has forgotten paarabreham, has forgotten Waheguru.

But Guruji says, vaddai bhaag prabh keerathan gaaeiaa. Only by baddai bhaag, only by great fortune, is one  blessed to keerathan gaaeiaa, to gaaeiaa, to sing the praises of prabh, of Waheguru. 

sa(n)thasa(n)g naanak prabh paaeiaa  Then Guruji is saying, "If you are going to break through these entanglements, what will you do?"  Sa(n)thasa(n)g. Enter the society of the saints, enter the company of the saints. And then what will happen? Nanak will meet with Waheguru. Nanak has found God among the saints, in the society of the saints, in the company of the saints.

Oh fool! Oh mortal, this body will not last forever. You will have to leave one day. May sure that you are one of those people who will leave this world saying with your face illuminated and radiant.
