Satgur Nanaak Dev Maharaj Ji speaks to us in the sohee raag, deeply colored in Waheguruji’s eternal love, this raag, and Guru Sahibji says:

vaahu khasam too vaahu jin rach rachnaa ham kee-ay
Oh vaahu khasam, O khasam, husband, Oh husband my Husband Lord! Oh My Master! You are great! You are wonderous! You are excellent! Too vaahu, Jin rach rachanaa ham kee-ay. You created this rachnaa, this creation, ham kee-ay. You kee=ay created, ham, us.

saagar lahar samund sar vayl varas varaahu
You created, saagar, the waters, you created lahar, the waves,  you created samund, the oceans, you created sar vayl, trees and ponds, you created varas the clouds, the varaahu, the mountains. But not only is Waheguru the Creator, the potter creates the pot. Once the potter has created the pot, they are two separate entities. The potter and the pot. They are not one.  Once the painter has created the painting, the painter and the painting are no longer one. They are separate.

aap kharhoveh aap kar aapeenai aapaahu
What sets Waheguru apart from this? Aap kharhoveh, aap kar aapeenai aapaahu. Waheguruji has created aap kharhoveh, has created all this Universe, aapeenai aapaahu has created Himself. But, Waheguru astounds us kharhoveh among the whole universe. He permeates through everything. There is no separation of them. The universe and the Creator are one. The Creator and the creation. Waheguruji has created it all and   permeates through everything.

gurmukh sayvaa thaa-ay pavai unman tat kamaahu
And one who becomes a gurmukh, who follows the Guru, he does sayvaa, his selfless service, thaa ay pavai is accepted by Waheguru. Unman tat kamaahu. That person is blessed with unman, a state of celestial bliss. And that person kamaahu gathers together- What? tat, the true essence of this life.

maskat lahhu majooree-aa mang mang khasam daraahu
Maskat lahhu majooree-aa. Those gurmukhs are blessed with the maskat lahhu majooree-aa, with the wages of their maskat, of their hard work. Because living that life according to the Guru’s teachings is hard work. " khanniahu thikhee vaalahu nikee eaeth maarag jaanaa ."  That path is sharper than a double-edge sword, and finer than a hair upon which the gurmukh has to walk. And so Waheguruji blesses his beloved, his gurmukh’s and gursikhs, with the majooree-aa, the fruit of their labor. And mang mang khasam daraahu. They only mang beg, daraahu means the door, and khasam means husband lord. They only beg from God. They do not beg from anyone else. The Gursikhs only beg from God and no one else. Only his Guru, his Waheguru.

naanak pur dar vayparvaah ta-o dar oonaa naahi ko sachaa vayparvaahu
Oh Nanaak! That pur dar, that court of the Lord, is vayparvaah, is carefree.  The Lord is carefree, and therefore his court is carefree. Tao-dar oonaa naahi ko. Oh Waheguru! At your door, there is naahi ko, there is no person leaving empty-handed from your door. You bless all, because You are sachaa vayparvaahu, You are the true carefree Lord.

mehlaa 1

Now Waheguru ji talks to us in mehlaa and says
ujal motee sohnay ratnaa naal jurhann
These teeth are sohnay, look beautiful, like ujal motee, like pure glistening  pearls, and ranaa nall jurhann, and the eyes sparkle like ratnaa like diamonds, like jewels. But ..

tin jar vairee naankaa je budhay thee-ay marann
Oh Nanaak, jar, old age is their enemy. Je budhay thee-aymarann.  And when they grow old they waste away and die. Waheguruji is showing the impermanence of the world.

pa-orhee

har saalaahee sadaa sadaa tan man sa-up sareer
Praise Hari, praise saalaahee, sadaa sadaa, again and again, forever and ever. Tan man sa-up sareer. Give your man, mind, tan, body, sa-up , your soul, dedicate all that to Waheguru.

gur sabdee sach paa-i-aa sachaa gahir gambheer
Through the Guru’s word, sabhdee, through the Guru’s teaching, you will find the truth, the sach. You will find the true sachaa, the gahir, the unfathomable, gambheer, great Lord.

man tan hirdai rav rahi-aa har heeraa heer
That Hari, that Waheguru who is the heeraa heer, who is the diamond of all diamonds, the jewel of all jewels, the pearl of all pearls, will rav rahi-aa, will permeate, your mind, man, your body, tan, and your  heart, hirdai. And then what happens?

janam maran kaa dukh ga-i-aa fir pavai na feer
The pain janam maran, of life and death ga-i-aa will be removed. And gir pavai na feer. You will never be put through another cycle of reincarnation.

naanak naam salaahi too har gunee gaheer
Oh Nanaak, salahi, praise the Naam. Har gunee ,because that Hari, that Wahegurue is gaheer, is an ocean of love and virtue.

Guru Nanaak Maharaj is showing us that this creation and this Creator are one. The Creator is permeating throughout his creation. And Maharaj ji is telling us to realize that we must follow that path of the gurumukh. khanniahu thikhee vaalahu nikee eaeth maarag jaanaa . So may Satgur do kirpaa and bless us to realize that path.

vaahu khasam too vaahu jin rach rachnaa ham kee-ay. saagar lahar samund sar vayl varas varaahu

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
