In this world, only a rare few are known, O Nanak, to have obtained the True Lord. ||34||1||3||

Guru Amarda Ji, the embodiment of sewa in the house of Guru Nanak speaks today in the Soohee Raag, the Raag colored in divine love, and Guru Amardas Ji Sahib says:

ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh
There is one Eternal, Creative, Nourishing, Destroying Being, who is found through the sat, the True Gurprasad, Guru’s Grace.

dhuneeaa n saalaahi jo mar va(n)n(j)asee
Guru ji gives us this assurance: Do not saalaahi, do not praise the dhuneeaa, this world, this Universe, why? Because mar va(n)n(j)asee, it will perish and pass away.

lokaa n saalaahi jo mar khaak thheeee
Then Guruji says, do not praise lokaa, these people, jo mar khaak thheeee, because they will mar, they will perish, they will khaak thheeee, they will turn into dust.

vaahu maerae saahibaa vaahu
Then Guru Sahib ji praises Waheguru, and says vaahoo, hail, O hail to you maerae saahibaa, O my Lord vaahoo.

guramukh sadhaa salaaheeai sachaa vaeparavaahu
Guru ji says the gurmukhs, the one who follow the Guru, sadhaa, forever, salaaheeai, they forever praise sachaa vaeparavaahu, that sachaa, that true Waheguru, who is vaeparavaahu, who is carefree, who is independent.

rehaao
Guru ji says, pause and think about this.

dhuneeaa kaeree dhosathee manamukh dhajh mara(n)n
Making friendship, dhosathee with this dhuneeaa, with this world, with these objects around us – what does friendship of the world mean? It means attachment to the world – it means attachment to the worldly things, attachment to the cars, money, houses. manamukh dhajh mara(n)n, Guru ji says people who follow their mind and get attached to this world, dhajh mara(n)n, they die by burning. What does this mean? It means spiritually their soul and their mind, their mind burns with all these desires; and that burning is never put out.

jam pur badhhae maareeahi vaelaa n laaha(n)n
When they die badhhae maareeahi, badhhae means to be bound, maareeahi means to be beaten, they are beaten due to their own desires; vaelaa n laaha(n)n, this vaelaa, this opportunity of human life, n laaha(n)n, does not come again and again. If you have this opportunity, this diamond in your hand, do not cast it away.

guramukh janam sakaarathhaa sachai sabadh laga(n)n
The guramukhs, their janam, their life is janam sakaarathhaa, is fruitful, is blessed, is amazing; sachai sabadh laga(n)n, because they laga(n)n, they attach themselves not to the world, but to the true shabad, the true word, the true naam.

aatham raam pragaasiaa sehajae sukh reha(n)n
What happens when you attach yourselves to the True Shabad – aatham, within you, within your soul, raam pragaasiaa, you are illuminated, there is a light of who, of ego? No! of desires? No! Of Raam, of Waheguru, of that Eternal God; sehajae sukh reha(n)n, and when that light burns within you, sehajae, you go into a state of sehaj, of balance, of intuitive balance and you remain, reha(n)n means to remain, you remain in sukh, in joy forever.

gur kaa sabadh visaariaa dhoojai bhaae racha(n)n
Those poeple who have visaariao, who have forgotten the sabadh of the Guru, the Guru’s words, dhoojai bhaae racha(n)n, and who racha(n)n, engross themselves, surround themselves in dhoojai bhaae, in the love of duality; what does this mean? That means in the love of maya, of this illusion.

thisanaa bhukh n outharai anadhin jalath fira(n)n
What happens to them? The bhukh, the hunger inside of thisanaa - greed is never quenched. anadhin jalath firan Day and night they wonder around, jalat- burning in their own desires, burning in their own greed, burning in their own attachments.

dhusattaa naal dhosathee naal sa(n)thaa vair kara(n)n
Then what those people do? They make friendships dhosathee with dhusattaa, the enamies, with evil ones both internally and externally. Internally they make friendships with kaam, krodh, lobhe, moh, ahankaar. Externally they make friendships with those people who indulge in evil acts. naal santhaa vair karan, And with the saints, with the blessed ones, have vair, have enmity. They are enemies of the saints. What happens to those people?

aap ddubae kutta(n)b sio sagalae kul ddoba(n)n
They themselves drown themselves in the world ocean, kuttanb sio along with their family, their friends, people around them. sagalae kul ddoban Those people end up bringing down their family and all the people around them.

ni(n)dhaa bhalee kisai kee naahee manamukh mugadhh kara(n)n
Guru Ji says ninddhaa of anyone, not one person, not two persons, Guru Ji says kisai kee, it is not good to slander any of them. Guru Ji could have said do not slander the good people but Guru ji said not to slander anyone, the good, the bad people, anyone; manmukh mugadhh karan Only people who are mugadhh, ignorant, foolish, who follow their mind , who are manmukh, who indulge in slander. Then what happens?

muh kaalae thin ni(n)dhakaa narakae ghor pava(n)n
Those nindaks, their faces are blackened. muh means face, kaalae means to be blackened. And they fall into the ghor, into the deepest narak, into the deepest hell. Also they are alive as well, because they are burning all the time with the nindiya they do of others.

eae man jaisaa saevehi thaisaa hovehi thaehae karam kamaae
O my mind, Guru Amar Das ji says, jaisaa saevehi, the one who you serve, thaisaa hovehi, you will become like that one. If you serve Waheguru who is nirbhau, you become nirbhau. If you serve Waheguru who is nirvair, you become nirvair. thaehae karam Live your life, and do your karam, and do your actions according to this.

aap beej aapae hee khaavanaa kehanaa kishhoo n jaae
O my mind you will have to sow the seed yourself aap beej, you will have to reap and aapae hee khaavanaa, eat what you have sowed. kehanaa kishoo n jaae Nothing else can be said about this matter Guru Amar Das Ji says. This is the reality.

mehaa purakhaa kaa bolanaa hovai kithai parathhaae
Guru Ji says the people, the mahapurakhs, were blessed, their boolanaa, their words, have a purpose, always, everything they do.

oue a(n)mrith bharae bharapoor hehi ounaa thil n thamaae
They are filled with amrit, they are filled with immortal nectar all the time. bharpoor hehi they are overflowing. ounaa thil n thamaae Those mahapurakhs, those sants, those sadhus have no greed, anything.

gunakaaree gun sa(n)gharai avaraa oupadhaesaen
Those people who have virtue they gather more virtues together gun sangharai, avaraa oopadhaesaen, they teach others the path of virtue.

sae vaddabhaagee j ounaa mil rehae anadhin naam leaen
Those people are vadbhagee, are very fortunate ounaa mil rehae, if they meet with these people. anadhin naam leaen What will happen by meeting those people? Day and night, you will chant the naam.

dhaesee rijak sa(n)baahi jin oupaaee maedhanee
Guru Ji says the one who oupaaee maedhanee, who created this world, he also gives us the rijak, the food, the sustenance. He nourishes it. Waheguru is not only the Creator, Waheguru nourishes and destroys as well.

eaeko hai dhaathaar sachaa aap dhhanee
Ik Oankaar, eaeko hai, that dhaathaar that giver is one alone, sachaa and true, aap dhanee and He Himself is the master of all, the wealthiest of all.

so sach thaerai naal hai guramukh nadhar nihaal
Guru Amardas ji says that sach, that True Lord, that Waheguru, that Satnam, thaerai naal hai, is with you at all times, guramukh nadhar nihaal, but only the guramukhs, the one who follow the Guru are blessed with the nadar, with the glance by His Grace and they become nihaal, they become exhalted, they become ecstatic.

aapae bakhasae mael leae so prabh sadhaa samaal
Only when Waheguru Himself bakhasae, forgives you and mael leae, and merges you into His being, so prabh sadhaa samaal, those people sadhaa samaal, all the time they contemplate Waheguru.

man mailaa sach niramalaa kio kar miliaa jaae
The mind is mailaa, Guru ji says the mind is impure, but sach niramalaa, but the True Lord, the Sat Naam is nirmalaa, is always pure; kio kar miliaa jaae, and Guru ji says how can I merge, miliaa, with that Sat Naam, how can I take away this dirt.

prabh maelae thaa mil rehai houmai sabadh jalaae
Then Guru ji gives the answer, prabh maelae thaa mil rehai, only if prabhu, only if Waheguru merges us, then mil rehai, then we will always remain merged into Waheguru; houmai sabadh jalaae, Guru ji is saying through the shabad, through the Guru’s word, ego can be burnt; through meditating upon the shabad your ego will be burnt and it will not remain.

so sahu sachaa veesarai dhhrig jeevan sa(n)saar
If we forget that sacha, that True sahu, Husband and Lord, dhhrig jeevan sa(n)saar, our life on this earth, our jeevan is dhhrig, is cursed.

nadhar karae naa veesarai guramathee veechaar
O Waheguru ji bless me with Your mercy, with Your nadar, naa veesarai, may I never forget You, guramathee veechaar and through the Guru’s math, the Guru’s wisdom, I contemplate You, I do veechaar of You.

sathigur maelae thaa mil rehaa saach rakhaa our dhhaar
If the True Guru unites us with Waheguru, we will always be united forever, saach rakhaa our dhhaar, and that person who is united by the True Guru, that person always keeps saach, the True Lord within his or her heart.

miliaa hoe n veeshhurrai gur kai haeth piaar
Guru ji says once you are united, you cannot be separated again, gur kai haeth piaar and all this happens through the haeth piaar, through the love and affection for the Guru.

pir saalaahee aapanaa gur kai sabadh veechaar
Guru ji says saalaahee, pir means Husband Lord, praise your Husband Lord, aapanaa, how? By gur kai sabadh veechaar, by contemplating, by doing veechaar of the Guru’s shabad, of the Guru’s words.

mil preetham sukh paaeiaa sobhaava(n)thee naar
And that person who follows that path, mil preetham, is united with the beloved, and what happens, sukh paaeiaa, that person is blessed with joy, sobhaava(n)thee naar, and that soul bride is honoured in this world and the next.

manamukh man n bhijee ath mailae chith kat(h)or
But the manamukh, the one who follows the mind, his or her man, mind, is not bhijee, is not affected by this; why? because his or her mind is ath mailae, completely impure, completely full of sin, chith kat(h)or, and their consciousness is kat(h)or, is stone-hearted.

sapai dhudhh peeaaeeai a(n)dhar vis nikor
Guru ji says even if you were to peeaaeeai, even if you were to feed dhudhh, milk to the snake, a(n)dhar vis nikor, you will not be able to eradicate the vis, the poison nikor, inside, andhar, inside.
