Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
The hukamnama today is by Guru Arjan Devi ji in Dhanaasaree raag on Ang 681 in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj.
Satugur Arjan Dev ji, the 5th Guru, the complete embodiment of peace and love in the house of Naanak, is talking to us in the Dhanaasaree raag, the Dhanaasaree raag in which all anxieties, all worries, fade away. The complete feeling of relaxation of the soul.
shhaddaae leeou mehaa balee thae apanae charan paraath
Guru Arjan says, shhaddaee leeou. Shdaddaae means to save; leeou means to do. Mehaa balee. Mehaa means great; balee means power. I have been saved from the awful, the terrible, the great power of Maya, this illusion around me. How? Apanea charan paraath. Charan means the lotus feet of God; apanae means his own; paraath means attaching me, by putting me close to. Waheguru attached me into his seva. Wahguru blessed me with his service, and saved me through his service from this illusion. He woke me up from this illusion; he broke this illusion by attaching me to Himself.
means
eaek naam dheeou man ma(n)thaa binas n kathehoo jaath
Eaek naam. Naam means the name of Waheguru. Eaek means one. Dheeou means to give; man means mind; ma(n)thaa means mantra. Waheguru gave me the mantra of his one name, for our mind, to make my mind completely peaceful. Binas means to perish; n means cannot kathehoo means ever; jaath means leave. Waheguru is giving me such a great mantra, such a great naam as a gift, that it cannot ever perish or leave me, even when I die. When I die, the Naam will never leave me.
"jah maat pitaa sut meet na bhaa-ee. man oohaa naam tayrai sang sahaa-ee." (Asthapadee 02 Pauree 1-2, Shalok)
Guru Arjan dev ji says in his composition Sukhmani Sahib: When your mother and father and friends and brothers and sisters and siblings cannot help you in that place, only the name of God can help you
sathigur poorai keenee dhaath
Poorai means perfect. Sathigur means true Guru; keenee has given. Has given what? This dhaath , this gift. The perfect true Guru has keenee, has given me, this gift. What was the gift?
har har naam dheeou keerathan ko bhee hamaaree gaath || rehaao
har, har naam. The gift was the name of Waheguru, Har, Har. Dheeou means to give; keerathan means praises, singing the praises; ko means to do. Guru Arjan Dev ji is saying that Guru Ram Das ji Maharaj, the True Guru, has blessed me with his name in keearthan, so I would chant them, the glorious praises. And by chanting the name of God what happens? Bhee harmaaree gaath. Haarmnae means mine; gaath means to be liberated. By singing Go’s praises I have been liberated.
Rehaao. Guru Arjan Dev ji says, Pause and think about this. You can been liberated as well by singing the praises of God, of Waheguru, of Har Har.
a(n)geekaar keeou prabh apunai bhagathan kee raakhee paath
A(n)geekarr literally mans body part. Keeou means make. Prabh means God. Apunai means heard. Waheguru has made me his own. He has taken me into himself. The crop has merged into the ocean. bhagathan kee raakhee paath. Bhagathan means devotee; raakhee means to protect; paath means honor. Waheguru has saved the honor of his devoteee. Waheguru has saved the honor of all those Gursikhs throughout past history.
naanak charan gehae prabh apanae sukh paaeiou dhin raath
Gehae means to get hold of. Charan means the feet of God. Prabh apanae means Waheguru himself. Naanak has grasped the feet of God. Naanak follows the path of God. Naanak follows the path of Truth and Love. And what happens? Sukh means peace. Paaeiou means find. Dhin raath means day and night. I have found such a peace that it cannot leave me whether it is day or night.
That peace remains with me. That is true peace. Guruji is saying If you want true peace, sing the praises of God. Sing the kirtaan of Good. Wherever you are; wherever you go. God will save your honor. He will make you his own. All you have to do is sing His praises. All you have to do is sing the kirtaan.
