I have been wandering around, searching for that enticing, sweet Beloved.

Whoever leads me to my Beloved - I would cut off my head and offer it to him, even if I were granted the Blessed Vision of His Darshan for just an instant.

My eyes are drenched with the Love of my Beloved; without Him, I do not have even a moment’s peace.

prabh sio man leenaa jio jal meenaa chaathrik jivai thisa(n)theeaa ||
My mind is attached to the Lord, like the fish to the water, and the rainbird, thirsty for the raindrops.

Servant Nanak has found the Perfect Guru; his thirst is totally quenched. ||1||

O intimate friend, my Beloved has all these loving companions; I cannot compare to any of them.

O intimate friend, each of them is more beautiful than the others; who could consider me?

Each of them is more beautiful than the others; countless are His lovers, constantly enjoying bliss with Him.

thinaa dhaekh man chaao out(h)a(n)dhaa ho kadh paaee gunathaasaa ||
Beholding them, desire wells up in my mind; when will I obtain the Lord, the treasure of virtue?

jinee maiddaa laal reejhaaeiaa ho this aagai man ddae(n)eheeaa ||
I dedicate my mind to those who please and attract my Beloved.

naanak kehai sun bino suhaagan moo dhas ddikhaa pir kaeheeaa ||2||
Says Nanak, hear my prayer, O happy soul-brides; tell me, what does my Husband Lord look like? ||2||

yaar vae pir aapan bhaanaa kishh neesee shha(n)dhaa ||
O intimate friend, my Husband Lord does whatever He pleases; He is not dependent on anyone.

yaar vae thai raaviaa laalan moo dhas dhasa(n)dhaa ||
O intimate friend, you have enjoyed your Beloved; please, tell me about Him.

laalan thai paaeiaa aap gavaaeiaa jai dhhan bhaag mathhaanae ||
They alone find their Beloved, who eradicate self-conceit; such is the good destiny written on their foreheads.

baa(n)h pakarr t(h)aakur ho ghidhhee gun avagan n pashhaanae ||
Taking me by the arm, the Lord and Master has made me His own; He has not considered my merits or demerits.

gun haar thai paaeiaa ra(n)g laal banaaeiaa this habho kishh suha(n)dhaa ||
She, whom You have adorned with the necklace of virtue, and dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love - everything looks beautiful on her.

O servant Nanak, blessed is that happy soul-bride, who dwells with her Husband Lord. ||3||

O intimate friend, I have found that peace which I sought.

var lorreedhaa aaeiaa vajee vaadhhaaee ||
My sought-after Husband Lord has come home, and now, congratulations are pouring in.

mehaa ma(n)gal rehas thheeaa pir dhaeiaal sadh nav ra(n)geeaa ||
Great joy and happiness welled up, when my Husband Lord, of ever-fresh beauty, showed mercy to me.

vadd bhaag paaeiaa gur milaaeiaa saadhh kai sathasa(n)geeaa ||
By great good fortune, I have found Him; the Guru has united me with Him, through the Saadh Sangat, the True Congregation of the Holy.

My hopes and desires have all been fulfilled; my Beloved Husband Lord has hugged me close in His embrace.

binava(n)th naanak sukh sukhaedhee saa mai gur mil paaee ||4||1||
Prays Nanak, I have found that peace which I sought, meeting with the Guru. ||4||1||

There is One eternal ik oankaar, creative, nourishing, destructive Waheguru, paramatma jio, who is Oankaar, who is prakash, who is illuminating throughout the world; sathigur prasaadh, akal purakh ji is found through the kripa, the Grace of the True Guru.

dharasan piaasee dhinas raath chithavo anadhin neeth
Waheguru ji, I am piaasee, I am thirsty, for what? Your Darshan - Your vision. When? dhinas raath, day and night I long to behold you; chithavo anadhin neeth, I chithavo, I yearn for you, anadhin, day and night, neeth, all the time, constantly.

kholih kapatt gur maeleeaa naanak har sa(n)g meeth
The Guru has khol, has opened the kapatt, the door, the veil of illusion, the Guru has removed it. Gurprasad bharam ko nash, is said in Sukhmani Sahib, the veil of doubt, the veil of illusion – the veil of illusion that Guru Nanak talked about in Japji Sahib, kiv sachaera hoeai, kiv koodheh tuteh paal, the paal, the wall of illusion, that veil of illusion, that door has been broken down; gur maeleeaa, the Guru has united me with who? naanak har sa(n)g meeth, Nanak’s friend, meeth, Hari, Waheguru, Paramatma, Akal Purakh, God.

That Mohan, that sweet Lord, who has enticed the whole world, who has put the whole world under His spell of Love, laal, beautiful, piaarae, my beloved, ho firon khoja(n)theeaa, I wander around, firon khoja(n)theeaa, searching for Waheguru, for that beloved.

this dhas piaarae sirr dhharee outhaarae eik bhoree dharasan dheejai
Whoever tells me, dhas, whoever wants to tell me where my piaarae, where my beloved was, sir dhharee outhaarae, I would take off my sirr, my head, dhharee outhaarae and put in front of them; eik bhoree dharasan dheejai, even if I was just to get darshan, even if I was blessed with His vision, eik bhoree, for one second.

nain hamaarae pria ra(n)g ra(n)gaarae eik thil bhee naa dhheereejai
My nain, my eyes are rangaarae, are coloured in pria rang, the color of God’s love, eik thil bhee naa dhheereejai, I can’t even have peace, for one second, for one thil, without the vision of Waheguru.

prabh sio man leenaa jio jal meenaa chaathrik jivai thisa(n)theeaa
My man, my mind is leenaa, is absorbed in the search of prabh sio, for Waheguru, prabhu, jio jal meenaa, and attached like the meenaa, like the fish loves water; chaathrik jivai thisa(n)theeaa, like the rain-bird, chaathrik, thirsts for those rain drops.

jan naanak gur pooraa paaeiaa sagalee thikhaa bujha(n)theeaa
Servant Nanak, has paaeiaa, has found the pooraa Guru, the True Guru, the perfect in every way Guru, sagalee thikhaa bujha(n)theeaa, then what will happen? sagalee thikhaa, all the thirst will be bujha(n)theeaa, will be quenched.

yaar vae pria habhae sakheeaa moo kehee n jaeheeaa
O my friend, O my yaar, my pria, my beloved Waheguru has all these sakheeaan, has all these friends, has all these companions around; moo kehee n jaeheeaa, but me, kehee n jaeheeaa, I can’t compare to any of them, kehee n jaeheeaa, they are so great, Waheguru is surrounded by all these saintly souls, who am I?

yaar vae hik ddoo(n) hik chaarrai ho kis chithaeheeaa
O my yaar, O my friend, hik ddoo(n) hik chaarrai, these beautiful saintly souls are blessed, each of them is more beautiful than the other, each of them is more virtuous than the other, one is blessed with humility, one is blessed with grace, one is blessed with honour, one is blessed with dignity, one is blessed with all these beautiful qualities, one is blessed with harmony, one is blessed with sat, withTruth, one blessed with jap – they are so beautiful all of these saintly souls; ho kis chithaeheeaa, who would even look towards me, chithaeheeaa, to consider me.

hik dhoo(n) hik chaarrae anik piaarae nith karadhae bhog bilaasaa
Each one of them is more beautiful than the other, by their virtues, these saintly souls, anik piaarae, and Waheguru has all of these beautiful anik, countless, beloved saintly souls around Him, nith karadhae bhog bilaasaa, and they enjoy Waheguru ji’s Love nith, constantly.

thinaa dhaekh man chaao out(h)a(n)dhaa ho kadh paaee gunathaasaa
Looking at them, dhaekh, seeing them, in my man, in my mind, chaao out(h)a(n)dhaa, a love awakens, out(h)a(n)dhaa, means awakens, chaao, this desire and love awakens; ho kadh paaee gunathaasaa, when will I paaee, when will I find my gunathaasaa, my treasure of virtue, my Waheguru.

jinee maiddaa laal reejhaaeiaa ho this aagai man ddae(n)eheeaa
Those people who have reejhaaeiaa, who have pleased my laal, my Waheguru, ho this aagai man ddae(n)eheeaa, in front of them, aagai, in front of them I ddae(n)eheeaa, I dedicate my mind, I give my mind, my man.

naanak kehai sun bino suhaagan moo dhas ddikhaa pir kaeheeaa
Nanak says, O listen to my prayer, my bino, O suhaagan, happy soul bride, O saintly soul, moo dhas ddikhaa pir kaeheeaa, tell me what my Waheguru ji, my pir, my husband Lord ddikhaa, looks like, what are His beauties, His darshan like.

yaar vae pir aapan bhaanaa kishh neesee shha(n)dhaa
O my friend, pir aapan bhaanaa, Waheguru has aapan bhaanaa, lives and does whatever He wants, in His hukam; kishh neesee shha(n)dhaa, does not rely on anyone else.

yaar vae thai raaviaa laalan moo dhas dhasa(n)dhaa
O my beautiful friend, thai raaviaa, you have enjoyed my laalan, my Waheguru, you have become one with my Waheguru; moo dhas dhasa(n)dhaa, please tell me how to get to Him, tell me about Him, tell me about my Waheguru, my beloved.

laalan thai paaeiaa aap gavaaeiaa jai dhhan bhaag mathhaanae
You found laalan, you found the beautiful Waheguru, aap gavaaeiaa, by eradicating all sense of self, all sense of ego, jai dhhan bhaag mathhaanae, and that person has dhhan bhaag, has great destiny written on their mathhaanae, on their forehead, who meets Waheguru.

baa(n)h pakarr t(h)aakur ho ghidhhee gun avagan n pashhaanae
Waheguru ji has taken me by the baanh, by the arms, pulled me, ho ghidhhee, to pull in, gun avagan n pashhaanae, and Waheguru ji has not pashhaanae, looked over my gun or my avagun, has not looked at my merits, my virtues or my sins, He just pulled me in.

gun haar thai paaeiaa ra(n)g laal banaaeiaa this habho kishh suha(n)dhaa
O Waheguru, in whose neck you put the haar, the necklace of gun, of virutes, thai paaeiaa Waheguru; ra(n)g laal banaaeiaa, You have made that soul bride beautiful, coloured in the laal colour, coloured in the crimson colour, of Your love; this habho kishh suha(n)dhaa, everything looks beautiful, adorning that soul bride, the humility that that soul bride has, the love, the harmony, the peace, the self restraint, everything, all the virtues that are beautiful.

jan naanak dhha(n)n suhaagan saaee jis sa(n)g bhathaar vasa(n)dhaa
O Servant Nanak, dhha(n)n, blessed is that happy soul bride, that suhagan, jis sa(n)g bhathaar vasa(n)dhaa, who dwells with her bhathaar, with her husband Lord.

yaar vae nith sukh sukhaedhee saa mai paaee
O my friend, I have found that sukh, that peace, sukh sukhaedhee, which I was looking for, saa mai paaee, I have found it, I have been blessed with it.

var lorreedhaa aaeiaa vajee vaadhhaaee
I have found my var, my husband Lord, vajee vaadhhaaee, and now my husband Lord comes into my home of my soul, vajee vaadhhaaee, congratulations are coming in from all corners.

mehaa ma(n)gal rehas thheeaa pir dhaeiaal sadh nav ra(n)geeaa
Now within me there is mahaa ma(n)gal, there is this great joy, this infinite joy, rehas thheeaa, there is peace within me, pir dhaeiaal sadh nav ra(n)geeaa, my navrangee, my ever beautiful Waheguru, is always dayal and has showered mercy upon me.

vadd bhaag paaeiaa gur milaaeiaa saadhh kai sathasa(n)geeaa
Through great fortune, through vadd bhaag, I have paaeiaa, I have found my Lord, how? gur milaaeiaa, because the Guru united me with Waheguru; saadhh kai sathasa(n)geeaa, through the sangat of the sadhus I met the Guru and through the Grace of the Guru, I met Waheguru.

aasaa manasaa sagal pooree pria a(n)k a(n)k milaaee
My aasaa, my manasaa, all my hopes and desires, sagal, all of them, pooree, have been fulfilled, pria a(n)k a(n)k milaaee, Waheguru ji has taken me into His a(n)k, into His very own existence; hugged me close with Him.

binava(n)th naanak sukh sukhaedhee saa mai gur mil paaee
Nanak prays I have found that sukh sukhaedhee, that peace, saa mai gur mil paaee, how did I find Him? By meeting with the Guru.

May Satguru Arjan Dev ji Maharaj bless us today that we feel this love within us for Waheguru ji’s darshan, that we are blessed with this beautiful longing. Let us all get together and do ardas that Waheguru ji blesses us, blesses the whole panth with this love, with this longing for Waheguru ji’s darshan.
