Satgur Arjan Dev ji Maharaj speaks in Jaisthree raag today. And in this raag of longing and devotion, the words that Guruji utters are:
koee jan har sio dhaevai jor
Is there any jan? Is there any servant? Is there any humble being who can sio dhaevai jor? Who can jor? Who can unite me with har sio dhaevai with Waheguruji, with Hari, with Prabhu? If there is a person like that, If there is a being like that,
charan geho bako subh rasanaa dheejehi praan akor
Rehaao. Guruji says, Pause and think about this.
man than niramal karath kiaaro har si(n)chai sudhhaa sa(n)jor
Guruji is saying that if you want to walk on this path then you have to man than niramal. Make your man, your mind, and than, your body, niramal, pure. Karath kiaaro, Har si(n)chai sudhhaa sa(n)jor. And si(n)chai, fill those gardens, work those gardens with sudhhaa, with the amrit essence of Waheguruji’s love. Sa(n)jor. like little gardens, like little fields.
eiaa ras mehi magan hoth kirapaa thae mehaa bikhiaa thae thor
Only through great kirapaa, through great blessings, can anyone experience eiaa ras, ras, this essence, this ecstasy, from Waheguruji’s Prehm. mehaa bikhiaa thae thor. And only after the power of bikhiaa, the power of poison, of Maya, of illusion has been thor, has been broken around that person.
aaeiou saran dheen dhukh bha(n)jan. Oh Waheguruji Of bha(n)jan! Oh One who breaks duhukh, who breaks the pain of the dheen, of the lowly servants! Aaeiou saran. I have come into your protection. chithavo thumharee our. Chitahavo, I am focusing all my attention on You, and I take You as my support, my our.
abhai padh dhaan simaran suaamee ko. And in this last line, Guru Arjan Dev ji says, the simaran, the meditation, the remembrance of the suaamee, of Waheguru, gives us what? Gives us the dhaan. The gift of what? Of abhair padh, the state of fearlessness. And going into a state of fearlessness, as Gurbani says, nirabho japai sagal bho mittai (Ang 293). "That person who meditates upon the Fearless, becomes fearless himself." Prabh naanak ba(n)dhhan shhor. And Naanak’s Prabh, Naanak’s Waheguru, Naanak’s Creator shhor ba(n)dhhan, breaks all ba(n)dhhan, all the chains around Naanak. And Naanak is truly liberated with this state of fearlessness.
Fear is what binds us down. And Guruji says, When we break through this fear, with the great kiraapa of Waheguru, then anything is possible. In this shabad today, in this hukam today, Guru Arjan Dev ji is telling us, Devote yourself to Waheguru, to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj. Devote yourself to those saintly beings, who encourage you on the path of Waheguru, and you will achieve the state of fearlessness.
