hir nwmu Dnu inrmlu Aiq Apwrw ]
har naam dhhan niramal ath apaaraa ||
The wealth of the Lord’s Name is immaculate, and absolutely infinite.

gur kY sbid Bry BMfwrw ]
gur kai sabadh bharae bha(n)ddaaraa ||
The Word of the Guru’s Shabad is over-flowing with treasure.

nwm Dn ibnu hor sB ibKu jwxu ]
naam dhhan bin hor sabh bikh jaan ||
Know that, except for the wealth of the Name, all other wealth is poison.

mwieAw moih jlY AiBmwnu ]1]
maaeiaa mohi jalai abhimaan ||1||
The egotistical people are burning in their attachment to Maya. ||1||

gurmuiK hir rsu cwKY koie ]
guramukh har ras chaakhai koe || How rare is that Gurmukh who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord.

this sadhaa ana(n)dh hovai dhin raathee poorai bhaag paraapath hoe || rehaao ||
He is always in bliss, day and night; through perfect good destiny, he obtains the Name. ||Pause||
 

sbdu dIpku vrqY iqhu loie ]
sabadh dheepak varathai thihu loe ||
The Word of the Shabad is a lamp, illuminating the three worlds.

jo cwKY so inrmlu hoie ]
jo chaakhai so niramal hoe ||
One who tastes it, becomes immaculate.

inrml nwim haumY mlu Doie ]
niramal naam houmai mal dhhoe ||
The immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, washes off the filth of ego.

swcI Bgiq sdw suKu hoie ]2]
saachee bhagath sadhaa sukh hoe ||2||
True devotional worship brings lasting peace. ||2||

ijin hir rsu cwiKAw so hir jnu logu ]
jin har ras chaakhiaa so har jan log ||
One who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord is the Lord’s humble servant.

iqsu sdw hrKu nwhI kdy sogu ]
this sadhaa harakh naahee kadhae sog ||
He is forever happy; he is never sad.

Awip mukqu Avrw mukqu krwvY ]
aap mukath avaraa mukath karaavai ||
He himself is liberated, and he liberates others as well.

hir nwmu jpY hir qy suKu pwvY ]3]
har naam japai har thae sukh paavai ||3||
He chants the Lord’s Name, and through the Lord, he finds peace. ||3||

ibnu siqgur sB mueI ibllwie ]
bin sathigur sabh muee bilalaae ||
Without the True Guru, everyone dies, crying out in pain.

Anidnu dwJih swiq n pwie ]
anadhin dhaajhehi saath n paae ||
Night and day, they burn, and find no peace.

siqguru imlY sBu iqRsn buJwey ]
sathigur milai sabh thrisan bujhaaeae ||
But meeting the True Guru, all thirst is quenched.

naanak naam saa(n)th sukh paaeae ||4||2||
O Nanak, through the Naam, one finds peace and tranquility. ||4||2||

 In today’s hukamnama in raag dhaanaassaree Sri Guru Amar Das Dev ji Maharaj, the embodiment of seva in the house of Guru Nanak, inspires us today in the dhaanaassaree raag. Guru Amar Das says to us today,

har naam dhhan niramal ath apaaraa
The dhhan, the wealth of Waheguruji’s naam, Hariji’s Naam, is niramal,  is pure. Not only is it niramal; it is ath apaaraa. Literally there Is no limit to this naam dhann.

gur kai sabadh bharae bha(n)ddaaraa
The Guru’s shabads, the Guru’s words, are like bharae bha(n)ddaaraa, are like an overflowing treasure.

naam dhhan bin hor sabh bikh jaan
Everything else apart from the naam dhhan, except for the the naam dhhan niramal, for everthing else, except for the naan dhhan, hor sabh bikh jaan. Know hor that to be bikh, to be poison.

maaeiaa mohi jalai abhimaan
And all the people in this world are burning in this poison, in maaeiaa, mohi. They are attached to this maaeiaa, to this illusion, and jalai abhimaan. And they burn, they in their own Ego.

guramukh har ras chaakhai koe
Only a few, koe, only a few blessed souls, guramukh, who follow the Guru completely, har ras chaakhai, have a taste of har ras, have a taste of the essence of Hari, of the essence of Waheguru.

this sadhaa ana(n)dh hovai dhin raathee poorai bhaag paraapath hoe
That person, that Gurmukh, is only blessed, with the essence of the Hari ras. And only through  poorai bhaag, through blessed fortune, through blessed destiny, do they find paraapath hoe,  this Hari ras, this Naam ras, this Waheguru ras. And what happens to this person who finda the Hari ras? Day and night, dhin and raathee, that person lives in seva and in a state of eternall bliss.

Rehaao. Pause and think.

sabadh dheepak varathai thihu loe
The dheepak, the illumination, the bright light of the shabad, of the Guru’s words, varathai thihu loe, illuminiates, His light illuminates, three different worlds, three places in the universe, Guruji is saying.

jo chaakhai so niramal hoe
Anyone who chaakhai, anyone who tastes this essence of Waheguru, so niramal. That person becomes niramal, that person becomes pure, that person becomes blessed.

niramal naam houmai mal dhhoe
Through the niramal naam, through the pure naam, Oh Waheguru, that person dhhoe, that person washes away the dirt, the mal of houmai, of ego!

saachee bhagath sadhaa sukh hoe
Only through true bhagath(ee), only through true love for Akaal Purakh, can you find sadhaa sukh. Can you go into a state of eternal peace.

jin har ras chaakhiaa so har jan log
Those people who have chaakhiaa, who have tased the essence of Hari, of Waheguru, so har jan log. They become God’s people, they become God’s servants. Har jan log.

this sadhaa harakh naahee kadhae sog
And that person is this sadhaa harakh, is in chardi kala, forever in happiness, forever in ecstasy. naahee kadhae sog. And that person never goes into sadness, never goes into depression.

aap mukath avaraa mukath karaavai
That person is mukath. That person is liberated, him or herself, and avarna mukath karaavai, and liberates others.

har naam japai har thae sukh paavai
How? Because he or she, himself or herself, japai, meditates upon the Hari Naam, the Waheguru Naam. har thae sukh paavai. And then through meditating upon the Naam that Gurmukch receives paavai, sukh, peace, wisdom, balance from Hari, from  Waheguru.

bin sathigur sabh muee bilalaae
Without the sathigur, without the True Guru, muee, everyone dies. Bilalaae, crying out in pain. Everyone is in pain without the True Guru. Have a look around. Everyone is in pain.

anadhin dhaajhehi saath n paae
Anadhin, day and night, they dhaajhehi, they burn, they burn in ego, they burn in lust, they burn in greed, in houmai, in attachment, moh. There is saath n paae, no finding of any peace.

sathigur milai sabh thrisan bujhaaeae
Only by milai, only if we unite with the True Guru, sabh all, thrisan, of our greed, all of our thirsts, can be quenched and be put out.

naanak naam saa(n)th sukh paaeae
Oh Nanak! Through the Naam, through Waheguruji’s Naam, you can find saa(n)th, you can find peace, sukh, you can find eternal happiness. You can find that.

So Guru Amar Das ji  Maharaj, in today’s hukamnama, is telling us har dhhan sa(n)cheeai bhaaee.  (Ang 734). Get together the dhann, the wealth of Waheguruji’s Naam, and nothing can touch you. You will be liberated, and you will liberate others if you meditate upon this Naam.
