One who constantly chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam with his tongue,

is not touched or affected by Maya, the embodiment of disease. ||4||

Chant and meditate on God, the Lord of the Universe, and all of your companions shall be carried across;

One who meditates on the One God in thought, word and deed

Dhaar anoograhu apnaa parabh keenaa.
Showering His Mercy, God has made me His own;

He has blessed me with the unique and singular Naam, and the sublime essence of devotion. ||7||

Awid miD AMiq pRBu soeI ]
aad maDh ant parabh so-ee.
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, He is God.

O Nanak, other than Him, there is none other. ||8||1||2||

 Siri Guru Arjun Devji Maharaj speaks to us in the Soohi raag, the raag coloured in crimson colour of God’s love. Ik-onkaar satgur parsaad. There is one eternal being who is preserving, looking after this whole world and is found through the true Guru’s grace, blessings.

Mithan moh agan sok saagar. This world is an ocean of fire. What fire? Of pain, of attachment, of false illusions. Kar kirpaa udhar har naagar. Oh Waheguru, of Hari, of my Lord bless me with your grace and save me from this ocean. Charan kamal sarnaa-ay naraa-in. Oh Waheguru, Oh Lord of the world I have come into your protection of your lotus feet. Deenaa naath bhagat paraa-in. Because I have heard you are the master of the lowly, you are the support of your devotees. Rahaa-o. Guru Sahibji says, “Pause at this point and think.”

Anaathaa naath bhagat bhai maytan. Guruji describes God and says, “God is the master of the masterless, support of those who have no support. He removes all fear of His devotees.” Saadhsang jamdoot na bhaytan. Those who enter into the company of Holy even the messengers of death cannot touch those people. Jeevan roop anoop da-i-aalaa. Oh Waheguru you are the embodiment of life. Oh gracious, kind one you are beautiful beyond any comparison. Ravan gunaa katee-ai jam jaalaa. By engaging in the singing the praises of Waheguru we can cut through the net of death which is around us.

Amrit naam rasan nit jaapai. Those people who have the immortal nector always on their tongue to them Rog roop maa-i-aa na bi-aapai. The very form of all disease, Maya, doesn’t affect them. Maya is the form of all diseases. Illusion is the disease which affects us everyday. Everyday when we are not realizing the truth we are being affected by the disease which says, “We are going to live for ever! When this physical body is going to perish away but we think it’s going to live for ever. We don’t realize that our soul is the only thing which is going to live for ever. When we look at our cars, our house, those around us and everything else we think they are going to stay for ever. That is the illusion, that is the disease that we need to take away. Guru Sahibji says, “ Jap gobind sangee sabh taaray.” If you meditate upon Gobind, on Waheguruji who is the Lord of this world, then you will save people around them as well. They don’t just liberate themselves but they liberate everyone around them as well. Pohat naahee panch batvaaray. Those people are able to do so because they are not affected by the five vices of Kaam; lust, Krodh; anger, Lobh; greed, Moh; attachment and Ahnkar; ego.

Man bach karam parabh ayk dhi-aa-ay. With your mind, word and action meditate completely on Ik-onkaar. Meditate completely in your mind, body, deed and action. If you speak then speak about Ik-onkaar. If you act then act in a way which shows your awareness of Ik-onkaar, of that oneness, of Akal Purakh Ji in everyone. Do the truth, live by the truth, speak the truth, be the truth. Sarab falaa so-ee jan paa-ay. That servant will receive all fruits. That person who meditates completely on Waheguru in thought, word and deed will get all things Dhaar anoograhu apnaa parabh keenaa. Waheguru has showered me with His kirpa, with His prasaad, with His grace and has made us His own.

Kayval naam bhagat ras deenaa. He blesses His devotees with only the support of Naam, nothing else. He only blesses us with that Ras, no other ras. Not the ras of alcohol, not the ras of cigarettes, not the ras of anything else in the world. Only the ras of Naam is within those people whom the Waheguruji blesses. Aad madh ant parabh so-ee. The Waheguru is Aad sach, Jugad sach, Hai bhi sach, Nanak hosi bhi sach. In the beginning, in the primal existence there was Waheguru, in the continuation there is Waheguru and in the end there is the same Waheguru pervading through all. Naanak tis bin avar na ko-ee. Nanak says, “Without that Waheguru there is no one else.” It’s all an illusion that anything else exits because there is only one. There only ever was one, and there only ever will be one. Ik-onkaar.

So Guru Arjun Devji Maharaj today is telling us in this hukamnama that if we want to be saved from this fire which is around us, from the fire of lust, the fire of ego, the fire of evil, the fire of falsehood, the fire of deceit, the fire of lies we have to break through that but only with the grace of the Guru. Only if we completely devote every action, every word, every deed to Guru Sahib ji and to Waheguru.

Aad madh ant parabh so-ee. Naanak tis bin avar na ko-ee.
