Siri Guru Arjun Devji Maharaj speaks today in the soohi raag, the raag coloured in the divine color, in that crimson colour of love. Satgurji Maharaj speaks to us and tells us about the Gunava(N)Thee: the soul bride who is full of virtue, full of blessings, full of goodness, full of the true virtues. This particular shabad comes from three shabads: the first one by Satgur Nanak Devji Maharaj titled, Raag soohi mahala 1 kuchajee, which is telling us about the soul bride who is kuchajee; who doesn’t know how to serve her master Lord Waheguru. She has no virtue. The second shabad is called, Soohi mahala 1 Suchajee, by Guru Nanak Devji again. In this Guru Nanak Devji Maharaj is telling us about the soul bride who is suchajee. She at least knows how to serve her Lord, to some extent, who has thirst inside to serve. In the last shabad Guru Arjun Devji talks aboutGunava(N)Thee. Guruji is telling us of that Gursikh, that Gurmukh, that soul bride who is full of gun, who is full of nothing but virtue.
Guru Sahib ji says, Jo Dheesai Gurasikharraa This Niv Niv Laago Paae Jeeo. When I see a true Sikh of the Guru, a follower of the Guru, a true disciple of the Guru, someone who is completely connected to the Guru, to that person I bow again and again, again and again. I get hold of his/her feet, of that Gursikh. What then do I do? Aakhaa Birathhaa Jeea Kee Gur Sajan Dhaehi Milaae Jeeo. Then I speak of the pain within me, I speak of the pain of my soul. Sadhsangatji Guru Arjun Devji is saying to us: S/He is a true Gursikh who you can fall at the feet of and tell the pain of your soul. The pain of separation from Waheguru. The pain of wanting to commit your life to sewa but not knowing how! The pain of not knowing the way. That pain within can be told to a Gursikh. Guru Arjan Devji continues: I would say to that Gursikh, my friend please unite me with the Guru who can take me from darkness into light.
Soee Dhas Oupadhaesarraa Maeraa Man Anath N Kaahoo Jaae Jeeo. I (Guru Arjun Devji) ask that Gursikh to tell me that message, that understanding, that wisdom that my mind does not wonder/waver anywhere else. Saadsangatji, “That is what I would ask for; that my mind doesn’t wonder, that my mind doesn’t waver! Mind wavers all the time but Guruji is saying that if I met one of those great Gursikhs of the Guru I would fall at their feet and I would ask them: Please bless me with the understanding, that wisdom that my mind never wavers.” As Guru Gobind Singhji says in Dasam Granth, Shub kar man te kab hun na taro. May I never refrain, may I never be scared, may I never fall back from doing the right thing. May my mind never waver.
Eihu Man Thai Koo(N) Ddaevasaa Mai Maarag Dhaehu Bathaae Jeeo. I would give my mind to that Gursikh who would show me the path to Akal Purakh, to Waheguruji. Ho Aaeiaa Dhoorahu Chal Kai Mai Thakee Tho Saranaae Jeeo. Oh Guru Sahib! I have come from so far and in this life I have come looking for your protection. What does this mean? Yes, we have come physically. But Guruji is saying all those 8.4 million lifetimes we have been traveling, traveling, traveling, and traveling and finally this human life is blessed upon us and we have the chance to seek the protection of Waheguru. Sagal duwaar ko chaad ke gayeyo toharo duwaar, bahe gayen ki laaj aas gobind daas tuhar. As Guru Gobind Singhji says in Raama Avtar from Dasam Granth. Kayi janam bhae keet patanga, kayi janam gaj meen kuranga. So many lifes we have been so many things, we have travelled so far, so very far and we have this beautiful human life.
Mai Aasaa Rakhee Chith Mehi Maeraa Sabho Dhukh Gavaae Jeeo. I have a hope in my consciousness, in my mind, in my thoughts that all of my pains will be taken away from me. What is this pain? The pain that Guruji talks about in the beginning of the shabad. The pain of separation from Waheguru! Take away this pain; it’s the greatest of all pains. Khalsaji, saadhsangatji, those who have been connected to the Guru they have been cut limb by limb and they haven’t felt any pain because they have been connected with their creator. How can they feel any pain? They have been burnt alive! they have been cut in half, but yet no pain!
Then the Gursikh brother, the virtuous soul bride tells us, Eith Maarag Chalae Bhaaeearrae Gur Kehai S Kaar Kamaae Jeeo. Walk on this path my brothers, my sisters. What is the path? Whatever the Guru says do that work, do that action, do no others. The Guru is looking upon us at all times; is the Guru tells us, “Do not go near tobacco”, it is for our own health, it is for our own spiritual and physical health. If the Guru tells us, “Not to drink alcohol”, then its for our own benefit. If the Guru tells us: Meditate upon Satnam Siri Waheguru, it’s so that we can merge into that divine creator. The Gursikh brother/sister is saying to us: Oh my brothers/sisters do what the Guru says!
Thiaagae(N) Man Kee Matharree Visaarae(N) Dhoojaa Bhaao Jeeo. Give up the thoughts of your mind which lead you astray. What will happen when you do this? You will forget this other attachment to illusion of maya. Give up all hopes of this illusion because it is going to give you nothing, Guru Sahibji is saying. Where can you get things? From Satnam Siri Waheguru. That’s the only place! Give up all the thoughts of your mind! Eio Paavehi Har Dharasaavarraa Neh Lagai Thathee Vaao Jeeo. This is how you will obtain the darshan, the blessed vision of Hari, of Waheguru, of Prabhu. What will happen when you get blessed with this blessed vision? Even hot winds will not be able to touch you because you will be one with Akal Purakh.
That Gursikh tells us, Ho Aapahu Bol N Jaanadhaa Mai Kehiaa Sabh Hukamaao Jeeo. That virtuous soul bride doesn’t know how to even speak but whatever she says is the command of her Guru. Har Bhagath Khajaanaa Bakhasiaa Gur Naanak Keeaa Pasaao Jeeo . I have been blessed with the treasure of Waheguruji’s devotional, loving worship. Guru Nanak is the one whop has blessed me with this devotional love. Waheguru! You can feel the oceans of love, the waves of love in this shabad.
Mai Bahurr N Thrisanaa Bhukharree Ho Rajaa Thripath Aghaae Jeeo. Now that Guru Nanak has blessed me with the eternal treasure of Naam, I don’t have any more hunger, any more thirst for these worldly things. I am completely satisfied now with Guru Nanak’s kirpa, with Guru Nanak’s bakhshish! Jo Gur Dheesai Sikharraa This Niv Niv Laago Paae Jeeo. Any sikh, an gursikh, any gurmukh I see, I fall at their feet and I humbly bow again and again. I humbly bow lower and lower.
Guru Arjun Devji is telling us today: This is the path of the soul bride who is full of virtue. Oh my brothers! Just walk on this path because we have been through so many lifetimes. Oh my sisters walk on this path because so many lifetimes we have come duron chal ke! May Satgurji do bakhshish so that we may experience pure love that is flying out of this shabad. Sangatji let us get together and may we do ardaas that Guru Nanak blesses us all with this kirpa.
Ho Aaeiaa Dhoorahu Chal Kai Mai Thakee Tho Saranaae Jeeo. Mai Aasaa Rakhee Chith Mehi Maeraa Sabho Dhukh Gavaae Jeeo.
Khusian De Jaikaree Gazawe!
Nihaal Ho Jawe!
Sahib Siri Guru Arjun Devji De Charan Nu Bhave!
Sat Siri Akal!
Gur Bar Akal!
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
