Katha by Bhai Sukha Singh ji

In the Sorath Raag, Bhagat Kabeer ji blesses us.
Bhagat ji says,

ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh, ik, there is One, oankaar, eternal, nourishing, Waheguru, Akal Purakh, protector, who is found through the sathigur, the True Guru’s prasaadh, Grace.

bahu parapa(n)ch kar par dhhan liaavai, bahu means many, parapa(n)ch, means many different deceptions, kar means by doing, by deceiving people in many different ways, par dhhan liaavai, the being brings par dhhan, par means which belongs to others, dhhan means wealth, liaavai means to bring – brings wealth which belongs to others. What Kabeer ji is saying here in simple words is the human being steals of others, through many deceptions. Why?

suth dhaaraa pehi aan luttaavai, for his suth, for his sons and daughters, and dhaaraa, his spouse, pehi aan luttaavai, he luttaavai, he loots for them, he gives his loot, his wealth to them. Bhagat Kabeer ji is talking about those people, who for the sake of themselves, for the sake of their families, for the sake of this Maya, this material illusion kept this deception and steal of others. And, Bhagat ji says,

man maerae bhoolae kapatt n keejai, man maerae , O my mind, bhoolai kapatt n keejai, O my distorted mind, O my bhoolai, bhoolai means to be lost, O my lost mind, kapatt n keejai. Bhagat ji it seems is talking to his own mind, but really is talking to us. Because themselves, they were completely one with Akal Purakh. Bhagat ji says, man maerae bhoolae, O my lost mind, kapatt n keejai, n keejai means do not do, do not practice kapat, deception, falsehood.

a(n)th nibaeraa thaerae jeea pehi leejai, because anth, in the end, the nibaeraa, the account, thaerae jeea pehi leejai, your soul, your jeea, will be asked to vouch for its own account. In the court of Dharamraja, in the court of the King of Dharma, of righteousness, each of our souls will be held to account. And, Kabeer ji says, remember, O my soul, O my mind, one day you will be held to account. Do not practice deception to fill your own stomach. Do not steal from others, just to fill your own stomach, because each thing you have taken through deception, through deceit, through lying, you will be held accountable for.

rehaao, Kabeer ji says pause and think about this.

shhin shhin than shheejai jaraa janaavai, shhin shhin, moment by moment, your tan, your body, sheeajai, means to be wearing away, is wasting away, each moment we are going closer to death; jaraa janaavai, jaraa means old age, janaavai means is becoming permanent, old age is taking you over, you are getting older, you are getting close to death, each moment.

thab thaeree ouk koee paaneeou n paavai, those who you deceived other people for, that family, Kabeer ji says, when you be old, thab thaeree ouk, ouk means in your cup, koee means anyone, paaneeou means water, n paavai means no one will put; no one will even put water into a cup. Kabeer ji says in the end it is between you and Waheguru. For this world you may deceive, you may lie, you may cheat, no one in this world will hold your hand through the hard times, it will only be Waheguru. Then Kabeer ji says,

kehath kabeer koee nehee thaeraa, kehath kabeer , Kabeer says, koee nehee thaeraa, no one, nothing belongs to you, thaeraa, nothing is yours.

hiradhai raam kee n japehi savaeraa, Kabeer ji says why don’t you japehi, why don’t you meditate upon the raam, upon Waheguru, in your hiradhai, in your heart, while you are savaeraa, while you are still young, when you still have time. Kabeer ji says nothing is wrong here, why don’t you meditate upon Waheguru, you still have time, you still have breath running through your lungs. So, therefore meditate upon Waheguru – He will save you in the end.

Kabeer ji is waking up this mind, that is stuck in deception and lies and saying wake up and realize only Waheguru will support you in the hard times.

kehath kabeer koee nehee thaeraa || hiradhai raam kee n japehi savaeraa

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

Katha by Bhai Guruka Singh ji

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

Today’s Hukumnama is from Sant Kabir in Raag Sorath.

Kabir talks today about the practice of lying and deception and he doesn’t just mean lying to others, he means lying to yourself, saying that when one acquires wealth through lying and that the money one gains is not gained through the sweat of one’s brow, but from other people, stolen from them, taken from them and then spent on his own needs and his own family that his soul will have to answer to God for that.

And, so he says, he is speaking to his mind and he says my mind don’t lie, even casually don’t lie, because life is wasting away moment by moment and old age will pounce upon you any moment and then when you are old no one will come to you to serve you and no one will take care of you. Because no one truly belongs to you and your family is not yours.

So he ends very simply, by saying remember God, chant God’s name now, while you are still young.

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
