Guru Arjan Maharaj speaks in the Raamkaalee raag, the raag which is said to be the favorite raag of the yogis. And Guru Sahib Patashji says, birathhaa bharavaasaa lok. Bharavaassaa, depending upon lok, upon human beings, upon mortals, is birathhaa, is wasting your time. There is no point depending on a human being because the human being has no guarantee of his or her existence. How can you depend on something that can fall away at any moment? If you were going to build your house, would you build it out of sand, which can fall down at any time? Or would you build it from bricks which are steady? In the same way Guru Sahibji is saying: If you are going to put your faith in something, put it in something which can never fall away. Put it in Waheguru, put it in God.

t(h)aakur prabh thaeree ttaek Oh t(h)aakur! Oh Waheguru! My True Lord! All I have is thaeree ttaek, is Your support only.

avar shhoottee sabh aas  shhoottee I have given up upon avar, every other,  aas, every other hope.

achi(n)th t(h)aakur bhaettae gunathaas
Why? Because I am bhaettae, I have been united with my t(h)aakur, with my Lord, gunathaas, thaas means treasure, guna means virtue, the treasure of virtue, the treasure of all praises, who is achi(n)th, who is always carefree and has made me carefree.

eaeko naam dhhiaae man maerae Oh my mind! Always dhhiaae, always meditate upon the one name, the naam, the name of Ik Oaankar, the One.

kaaraj thaeraa hovai pooraa har har har gun gaae man maerae
kaaraj thaeraa  All of your kaaraj, all of your affairs, on this earth that you have been worrying about, hovai pooraa, will be resolved. Everything will become perfect. Everything you do will become perfect. Har har har gun gaae man maerae. If you meditate upon Hari! Hari! Hari! Har! Har! Har! Waheguru! Waheguru! Waheguru!

Rehaao  Guruji says, Pause and think about this.

thum hee kaaran karan You are the karaan. You are the Cause of all causes, of everything. And You are the karan, You do everything, the life force, all.

charan kamal har saran Oh Waheguru! I have taken charan, sanctuary in your kamal charan, in your Lotus feet,

man than har ouhee dhhiaaeiaa  With your man, with your mind, and with your than, with your body, dhhiaaeiaa, meditate upon Waheguru! My one Lord, Waheguru! Give everything to Him.

aana(n)dh har roop dhikhaaeiaa  And then what will happen? He will dhikhaaeiaa, He will prepare to show you, He will reveal to you His roop, His true form of aana(n)h, complete bliss.

this hee kee outt sadheev Only His outt, only His support is sadheev, is eternal.

jaa kae keenae hai jeev  Because Waheguru is the one who created all these jeev, all these beings, all these animals, all these plants.

simarath har karath nidhhaan simarath By doing simran, by meditating upon Hari, upon Waheguru, you find the true nidhhaan, the true Treasure within yourself.

raakhanehaar nidhaan  And, nidhaan, when the end of your life comes, the Guru Sahib will raakhaneharar, the One who protects you and saves you, liberates you.

sarab kee raen hoveejai  Guruji says, Become the raen, the dust of everyone’s feet.

aap mittaae mileejai  Only if you mittaae, if you eradicate your sense of self, when you eradicate the sense that you exist, ‘that I exist,’  will you realize that He exists everywhere. Mileejai, then you will merge in with Waheguru.

anadhin dhhiaaeeai naam anadhin, day and night, dhiiaaeeai naam, mediate upon the Naam.

safal naanak eihu kaam  Oh Nanak! This is the most safal, this is the most satisfying, this is the most blessed, this is the most fulfilling thing to do with your life.

So Guru Sahibji is telling us: Don’t depend on human beings. Depend on the One who created the whole world, who created everything. Don’t depend on people who are going to fall away, and who will perish. Just as Guru Sahibji says in Sukhmani Sahib on Ang 281 of Guru Sahibji: jis no kirapaa karai this aapan naam dhaee. He Himself gives His Name to those, upon whom He bestows His Mercy. Reliance on Human beings is nothing. Only Waheguru is the One who is going to give everything, for He created everything. So in the hukam today Guru is saying: Oh my mind! Meditate on that One and you will obtain the greatest of all treasures.
