Satgur Maharaj, Dhan Dhan Shri Guru Ram Das ji speaks to us today through the Gujri Raag, a very serious Raag. Satguru ji says,

goojaree mehalaa 4 ghar 2,
Gujri by Shri Guru Ram Das ji, fourth light of Guru Nanak, ghar 2, to be sung in the second house.

ik oa(n)kaar sathigur prasaadh,
There is one Eternal, Universal Creator of all, Satgur prasaadh, who is found through the sat, the true gurprasad, Guru’s Grace.

har bin jeearaa rehi n sakai jio baalak kheer adhhaaree,
Without Hari, without Waheguru, without my beloved, my jeearaa, my soul rehi na sakai, rehi means to remain, cannot remain, literally means cannot survive, I cannot survive without you, Waheguru.

People think they cannot survive without their material goods, people think they cannot survive without certain type of food or certain type of entertainment, or certain type of car, but, Guru Sahi ji is saying, har bin jeearaa rehi n sakai, without Waheguru, my soul cannot remain; jio baalak kheer adhhaaree, I am so dependent on Waheguru, I am so in love with Waheguru, like the balak, like the child, survives on, adhhaaree means to be the support, to survive on, survives on kheer, on milk. But, even the child only asks for milk, a few times a day, a number of times a day. Guru Sahib ji says, Guru Nanak Dev ji says aakhaan jeevaan visarai mar jaaon, I am only alive, my soul only lives when I am meditating upon you. When I don’t, mar jaaon, it is my spiritual death. So, although this love is like that of the child and the milk, it is even greater.

agam agochar prabh guramukh paaeeai apunae sathigur kai balihaaree,
That agam agochar, that Waheguru, who is agam, who is beyond our reach, agochar, who is beyond our grasp, prabh, my Lord, gurmukh paaeeai, can only be found by becoming a gurmukh, by following the guru, by having your mukh, your face towards the guru at all times; apunae sathigur kai balihaaree, I am a sacrifice, I am balihaaree to my satguru, to my true guru.

man rae har keerath thar thaaree,
O my mind, har keerath thar thaaree, how are you going to tar, how are you going to cross across this ocean? har keerath, the keerath, the praise of Hari, of Waheguru, is the boat is your saviour to liberate you from this ocean.

guramukh naam a(n)mrith jal paaeeai jin ko kirapaa thumaaree,
The gurmukh, the one who follows the guru, is blessed and finds, paaeeai, means to find; finds what? The jal, the water of what – the Naam amrit, the nectar, the immortal nectar of Naam, of God’s name. jin ko kirapaa thumaaree, but only those people find that, only those gurmukhs who have the kripa, who have the grace of Waheguru.

rehaao,
Guru ji says Pause and Think about this.

sanak sana(n)dhan naaradh mun saevehi anadhin japath rehehi banavaaree,
sanak sana(n)dhan, the sons of Brahma, the messenger of the Gods, Narad, mun, the sage, Narad, the wise man, the one who is the messenger of the Gods, saevehi, they all serve you, Waheguru; anadhin japath rehehi banavaaree, O Waheguru, banavaaree means the Sustainer and Lord of of this bann, of this jungle, the jungle of this world. O Waheguru, O the One who sustains this world, this jungle of the world, they all, anadhin, day and night, japath, meditate upon you, day and night.

saranaagath prehalaadh jan aaeae thin kee paij savaaree,
Prehalaadh, the jan, Prehalaadh, your servant, came into your saranaagath, came into your protection; then what happened, thin kee paij savaaree, and Waheguru, You savaaree, You sorted out, You looked after, You protected his paij, his honour, your protected his honour, Waheguru.

The story can be found again and again in Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji and we repeat it everyday as we sing so dar before Rehraas, har jug jug bhagat oopaaeia, paij rakahdha aaeia ram raje, harnakash dushtt har maraeia, prahlaad taraeia. Again that is a chant in aasaa raag by Shri Guru Ram Das ji. Waheguru saved Prahlad from the clutches of his father, Harnakash, when Harnakash was about to tear Prahlad open and kill him. Waheguru ji came and saved him in the form of Narsingh, half man, half lion. You can read this further in those shabads, how satguru ji, how Waheguru ji saved Prahlad.

alakh nira(n)jan eaeko varathai eaekaa joth muraaree,
alakh, that one who cannot be known by any intellect; niranjan, that one who is beyond the stains of this maya, of this material world, eaeko vartai, there is only One, Waheguru, who is pervading through all, eaekaa joth muraaree, and that One light can be seen in all, of that muraaree, that killer of the demons of kaam, krodh, lobh, moha, ankhar, Waheguru.

sabh jaachik thoo eaeko dhaathaa maagehi haathh pasaaree,
All are jaachak, jaachak means beggars, everyone is begging; thoo eaeko dhaathaa, O Waheguru, You are the One dhaathaa, the Giver, You are the only Giver on this world, everyone else is just taking and taking; maagehi haathh pasaaree, we are all beggars and we all put out our hands, haathh pasaaree, pasaaree means put your hands out, like the beggar puts his hands out and asks for alms. Everybody is putting their hands out and begging, Waheguru.

bhagath janaa kee ootham baanee gaavehi akathh kathhaa nith niaaree,
When the bhagats, when the devotees, the jan, the servants speak, when your servants speak, Waheguru, their baanee, their words are ootham, the highest of the high, the most beautiful words; gaavehi akathh kathhaa nith niaaree, why? Because they sing the akathh kathhaa, the unspoken speech, nith niaaree, which is always amazing. This unspoken speech, this divine speech of God, is unstruck cord, that needs no striking. Without any type of instrument, any type of stringing, every instrument, every sound is made by the friction of two things.

It is seen when we play a drum, the sound comes because we are beating the drum; when we are blowing into a wind instrument, the sound is made from the collision of the air particles. But this sound Satguru ji is saying needs nothing to play, it is being played all the time. As Bhagat Namdev ji said, in raag sorath on Ang 657 of Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sorath Ghar 3, anmarhi-aa mandal baajai. bin saavan ghanhar gaajai, anmarhi-aa, the skinless drum plays, what is that drum, that is within, that is Waheguru playing inside. And, that is the speech, when you become one with Waheguru, the bhagats, the devotees speak His words, they speak of the unspoken sound, the unstruck cord.

safal janam bhaeiaa thin kaeraa aap tharae kul thaaree,
safal janam bhaeiaa , their janam, their life is blessed; aap tharae, they save themselves, kul thaaree, and they save their whole kul, their whole family.

manamukh dhubidhhaa dhuramath biaapae jin a(n)thar moh gubaaree,
But, the manmukh, the people who follow their mind, they are in dhubidhhaa, they are in two minds, in duality; dhuramath biaapae, and they are attacked, biaapae means to be attacked by, to be completely submerged in dhuramath; dhura math – there is either gur math, the Guru’s wisdom or dhura math, means bad, evil math, mind. That is what they are stuck in. jin a(n)thar moh gubaaree, because they have the gubaaree, the darkness of mohh, of attachment within, to this world, to this maya.

sa(n)th janaa kee kathhaa n bhaavai oue ddoobae san paravaaree,
They do not bhaavai, they do not have any love inside, they do not like the katha, the sermons, the speeches, the discourses of the sants, of the saints; oue ddoobae san paravaaree, the gurmukhs liberates his own family and what do these people do? They ddoobae, they drown, they take those around them, with them, their families whatever else with them. Why? Because the gurmukh is going to encourage his family to meditate upon the Naam, but what is the manmukh going to do? The manmukh is going to say, let us take our consciousness away from God, let us take our take drugs, let us take alcohol. Whereas the gurmukh will say let us sit down, read Jap ji, read Rehraas, meditate upon our Creator Lord.

ni(n)dhak ni(n)dhaa kar mal dhhovai ouhu malabhakh maaeiaadhhaaree,
The ni(n)dhak, the slanderers, by doing nindha, what do they do, what are they doing, what is nindeeaa doing, mal dhhovai, it is washing away the mal, washing filth of others, ouhu malabhakh maaeiaadhhaaree, satguru ji says those people doing nindeeaa, they are doing malabhakh, they are eating the filth of others, mal means filth, bhakh means to eat, maaeiaadhhaaree, dhhaaree means orientated, maaeiaa means this material world. They are washing this material world.

sa(n)th janaa kee ni(n)dhaa viaapae naa ouravaar n paaree,
Those people who do nindha, who slander, who make up gossip about sant janna, about the saints, about the servants of Waheguru, naa ouravaar n paaree, they do not find any peace in this world, ouravaar, of this world, na paaree, nor in the next.

eaehu parapa(n)ch khael keeaa sabh karathai har karathai sabh kal dhhaaree,
This whole parpanch, this whole game, this whole khel, keeaa sabh karathai, is keeaa, is created, is sabh, all of it, by the karathai, by the Creator, by Waheguru, by kartapurakh. har karathai sabh kal dhhaaree , the Hari, Waheguru, who nourishes all, that kartapurakh, that Creator, sabh means all, kal dhhaaree, kal means His shakti, energy, He has infused His energy into all.

har eaeko sooth varathai jug a(n)thar sooth khi(n)chai eaeka(n)kaaree,
Throughout this whole jug, throughout this whole world, there is one sooth, there is one thread, eaeko sooth, sooth means thread, eaeko means one – there is one thread through the whole parameter of this world, and that is Waheguru. sooth khi(n)chai eaeka(n)karee, when Waheguru pulls out the sooth, the thread of life from all and destroys everyone, then there is only eaeka(n)karee, then there is only One.

rasan rasan ras gaavehi har gun rasanaa har ras dhhaaree,
rasan, rasan, with their tongues, what do the gurmukhs do? ras gaavehi har gun, they taste the sublime essence of har gunn, the praises of Hari, of Waheguru and they meditate upon them, they sing them; rasanaa har ras dhhaaree, with their rasanaa, with their tongue, they taste the har ras, the essence of Hari, of Waheguru, the sublime amrit ras of Naam.

naanak har bin avar n maago har ras preeth piaaree,
O Nanak, har bin avar n maago, whenever you beg from God, whenever you do ardaas, satguru ji says, do not beg for anything apart from Hari; har bin means without God, avar means anyone else, n maamgo means do not ask, do not ask for anything else apart from Waheguru; har ras preeth piaaree, satguru ji says I am in love with, I have preeth, I have love, I have piaar inside me for har ras, for that essence, for that sublime taste of amrit, of immortality, of God, of Waheguru.

So, Satguru ji today is talking to us, saying to us, man rae har keerath thar thaaree, O my mind praising Waheguru, meditating upon Waheguru, is what will save you. May Satguru ji bless us, that we focus upon Naam, throughout this day and throughout everyday of our lives.

rasan rasan ras gaavehi har gun rasanaa har ras dhhaaree || naanak har bin avar n maago har ras preeth piaaree ||

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa! Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
