The hukamnama today is by Guru Nanak Devji Maharaj, in the Soohi raag, on ang 729 of Siri Guru Granth Sahibji Maharaj.

Build the raft of meditation and self-discipline, to carry you across the river.

There will be no ocean, and no rising tides to stop you; this is how comfortable your path shall be. ||1||

Your Name alone is the color, in which the robe of my body is dyed. This color is permanent, O my Beloved. ||1||Pause||

My beloved friends have departed; how will they meet the Lord?

If they have virtue in their pack, the Lord will unite them with Himself. ||2||

Once united with Him, they will not be separated again, if they are truly united.

Awvw gauxu invwirAw hY swcw soeI ]3]
The True Lord brings their comings and goings to an end. ||3||

houmai maar nivaariaa seethaa hai cholaa |
haumY mwir invwirAw sIqw hY colw ]
One who subdues and eradicates egotism, sews the robe of devotion.

Following the Word of the Guru’s Teachings, she receives the fruits of her reward, the Ambrosial Words of the Lord. ||4||

Says Nanak, O soul-brides, our Husband Lord is so dear!

ham seh kaereeaa dhaaseeaa saachaa khasam hamaaraa |5|2|4|
hm sh kyrIAw dwsIAw swcw Ksmu hmwrw ]5]2]4]
We are the servants, the hand-maidens of the Lord; He is our True Lord and Master. ||5||2||4||

Satguru Maharj Nanaak Dev ji is talking to us today in sohee raag, the raag that is colored in the soh(e) color of love, the beautiful crimson color of love and Guruji says,

jap thap kaa ba(n)dhh baerrulaa jith la(n)ghehi vehaelaa  Make the boat, baerrulaa, make the raft to carry across this ocean of the world. Make it out of meditation, jap and thap. With this baerrulaa, cross this river of the world.

naa saravar naa ooshhalai aisaa pa(n)thh suhaelaa
If you ride on this boat of meditation there will be naa saravar, there will be be no ocean. saravar means ocean. The ocean around you of fear, hatred and desire will not affect you naa ooshhalai and there will be no tides of emotional attachment to stop you. Guruji says, aisaa pa(n)thh suhaelaa. This path, pa(n)thh, this path is the one, which is best for you.

thaeraa eaeko naam ma(n)jeet(h)arraa rathaa maeraa cholaa sadh ra(n)g dtolaa  rehaao
Guruji says thaeraa eaeko naam. Oh Waheguruji ! Your one Name eaeko naam ma(n)jeet(h)arraa. The robe, the cholaa of my soul is colored in the ma(n)jeet(h)arraa. in the color of your Naam, of your name, Oh Waheguru! Sadh ra(n)g dtolaa. Dtolaa is beloved, Guruji is saying, Oh my beloved Waheguru, dtolaa, when the color of your Naam is gone, sadh ra(n)g, forever it is colored.  Pause and think about this today.

saajan chalae piaariaa kio maelaa hoee
Guruji says, saajan, my friends, piaariaa, my beloved, are gone. Ko maelaa hoee. Ko means how maeiaa means be united. How can I be united with them again? How can I be re-united? 

And Guruji says, jae gun hovehi ga(n)t(h)arreeai maelaegaa soee
If my friends, gun hovehi, if I have virtue with them , ga(n)t(h)arreeai means, literally it means in a bath, in some form of bath. If in the  bath of their souls, they have virtues, Guruji says, Waheguru himself will unite them with him

miliaa hoe n veeshhurrai jae miliaa hoee
One who is united.  Miliaa is united. hoe n veeshhurrai jae . Once someone is united they cannot be separated from Waheguru. Jae miliaa hoee. Only if they are truly united. Not if it is false.

aavaa goun nivaariaa hai saachaa soee
The are aavaa goun. They are coming and going on the earth. Nivaariaa is ended by Waheguru, the True One himself.

houmai maar nivaariaa seethaa hai cholaa
They one who maar nivaariaa  means to eradicate. The one who eradicates his houmai, his Ego, only that person seethaa hai cholaa has seethaa, has sewn together the robe, the cholaa,  of Waheguruji’s love.

gur bachanee fal paaeiaa seh kae a(n)mrith bolaa
The person who follows the gur bachanee, Guru’s words, fal paaeiaa, they find the fruit of their rewards seh kae a(n)mrith bolaa. And they are blessed with a(n)mirth bolaa, with the Lord’s ambrosial words, immortal words.

naanak kehai sehaeleeho sahu kharaa piaaraa
Nanaak says to all of the soul brides, Oh my friends! Oh my sisters! My lord is kharaa piaaraa, the most beloved thing ever.

ham seh kaereeaa dhaaseeaa saachaa khasam hamaaraa Ham means we. We are dhaaseeaa, we are servants of the Lord. Saachaaa khasam hamaaraa, and our husband Lord, he is true forever in this age and in all ages.  aadh sach jugaadh sach hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach. He is true forever.  

So Guruji is saying to us,  build the raft, the boat of virtue. And you will cross across this world.
