Says Ravi Daas, the Lord is nearer than our own hands and feet. Whatever will be, will be. ||4||1||
Bhagat Ravidas ji speaks to us in the Sorath raag and says, Ik Oa(N)Kaar Sathigur Prasaadh. There is one Akal Purakh Waheguru, who is forever looking after us, forever our protector. He is found through the grace of the True Guru.
Bhagat ji starts off with the lines, Jab Ham Hothae Thab Thoo Naahee Ab Thoohee Mai Naahee. Oh Waheguru ji when my ego is around, when I believe that I exist, when there is even that speck of ego then I do not recognize that you are within me. But now I have realized that there is only You and that I don’t even exist! There is no ego. Bhagat ji is saying, When the droplet of rain believes that it is IT and that there is nothing beyond that then how can there be the ocean? How can the droplet fathom the ocean? Bhagat ji is saying, When we are in our ego we can’t even fathom Akal Purakh. But now I have realized that there is only YOU! I don’t even exist. There is only Akal Purakh everywhere. Sabhai ghat raam bolai. Now I realise that you are speaking through all. It is You.
Anal Agam Jaisae Lehar Mae Oudhadhh Jal Kaeval Jal Maa(N)Hee. There may be great waves in the ocean but despite there being these great waves Bhagat ji reminds us, they are only water! The souls that have come out of that Akal Purakh they are still part of that Paramatmaa. Each of these atmaas is part of that Paramatamaa. Each of those waves is part of water, part of that ocean; nothing different, nothing separate! If the waves are to believe they exist without the ocean then how foolish are the waves? Just as foolish as this human being is.
Maadhhavae Kiaa Keheeai Bhram Aisaa. Oh Waheguru what can I say about such an illusion, such a doubt? Jaisaa Maaneeai Hoe N Thaisaa. As I had thought things were really they are not like. The reality is not as I thought. The reality is not as I had mapped out.
Rehaao. Bhagat ji says, Pause and think about this. Are the things you see really the reality. Is this body really real? Are all transitory things of this illusion, of this maya around us really real?
Then Bhagat ji says, Narapath Eaek Si(N)Ghaasan Soeiaa Supanae Bhaeiaa Bhikhaaree. The king is asleep on his throne but in his dream he has become a beggar.
Ashhath Raaj Bishhurath Dhukh Paaeiaa So Gath Bhee Hamaaree. His raj, his kingdom is intact, its fine! But he believes he has been separated from it and that he has lost it, and what happened in his dream? He goes through pain! Bhagat ji then says, That same condition is mine own. That condition is of the each and every one of us on the earth. We are the sons and daughter of Akal Purakh. Kabir ji in the Guru Granth Sahib ji says, kahu kabeer eihu raam kee a(n)s. This is the part of that supreme soul. We forget that our father is Waheguru, just like that king who is asleep. We forget where we have really come from and where we are going to go to.
Raaj Bhueia(N)G Prasa(N)G Jaisae Hehi Ab Kashh Maram Janaaeiaa. It’s just like the story of the rope which is mistakes for a snake. Those people who have lived in India will know this – at night if there is a rope and there is not much light out there then you can easily mistake it for a snake. Bhagat ji says, Now I understand the secret behind all this that everything is an illusion. Everything I thought was true is an illusion. I had been mistaking the rope for a mistake. I had been mistaking this maya for something it really was not!
Anik Kattak Jaisae Bhool Parae Ab Kehathae Kehan N Aaeiaa. Bhagat ji says, I thought the bracelets were all separate but I did not realize that they were all gold. Now I do not know what to say. Now I don’t say what I had said before. Now I have realized that there may be thousands of gold bracelets they still come down to the same thing.
Sarabae Eaek Anaekai Suaamee Sabh Ghatt Bhuogavai Soee. There is only one Waheguru who may be permeating through many forms. Through all hearts Waheguru Himself enjoys all.
Kehi Ravidhaas Haathh Pai Naerai Sehajae Hoe S Hoee. Ravidas says, God is closer to you than your own hand. When anything in your body hurts, when any cuts happen on your body, when any burn happens on your body, what is the first thing that goes there? It’s your hand! Bhagat Ravidas ji is saying, Waheguru is nearer than your hands and feet. Before anything else helps you, Waheguru ji does.
Sahajay hoye so hoyi. Whatever will happen, will happen.
In this hukamnama Bhagat ji is trying to wake us up from this illusion. Bhagat ji is saying, All my brothers and sisters break away from this illusion. Wake up from this dream. Break away from this dream of ego! Break away from this dream of illusion. Break away from this dream of maya and go beyond that. Go beyond the illusion of the rope and the snake. Go beyond the illusion of the snake. Go beyond the illusion of the bracelets. Go beyond the illusion of maya.
Sarabae Eaek Anaekai Suaamee Sabh Ghatt Bhuogavai Soee.
Kehi Ravidhaas Haathh Pai Naerai Sehajae Hoe S Hoee.
Jaikaree Gazawe!
Nihaal Ho Jawe!
Bhagat Ravidasji De Charan Nu Bhave!
Nihaal Ho Jawe!
Sat Siri Akal!
Gur Bar Akal!
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
