Great is His glorious greatness, and wondrous is His magnificence; through Him, all affairs are resolved.

Nanak has met with the Perfect Guru; all his sorrows have been dispelled. ||4||5|

Satguru Patshah talks in the Sorath raag today. Patshahji says, “ Gur pooraa bhaettiou vaddabhaagee.” Only those who have great fortune are blessed with meeting, are blessed with union with seeing the perfect Guru. What happens when you meet the true Guru? Gu means darkness, Ru means light; Guru is the one who brings you from darkness to light. What happens when you meet Him? “Manehi bhaeiaa paragaasaa.” In you mind there becomes complete enlightenment. Those people who meet the Guru their faces are full of light. Nanak te mukh ujalay. Oh Nanak, their faces shine because they understand that sab meh jot jot hai soye. That jot is within them, that jot is within everyone. When they understand this what happens? Gur sakhi jot pargat hoye. Through the Guru’s words that jot becomes awakened within. The unrevealed become revealed.

Koe n pahuchanehaaraa dhoojaa apunae saahib kaa bharavaasaa. No one else is equal to that Gursikh who has been blessed with the support of His master, His Guru. Pandat, soor, chatarpat raja bhagat brabar na koye. In Guru Granth Sahibji Bhagat Ravidasji says on Ang 858 of Siri Guru Granth Sahibji, “The scholar, the warrior and the completely overwhelming king, no one is equal to the beloved of the Guru, the Gursikh of the Guru, the devotee of the Guru, the one who is in love with the Guru.”

Satguruji says, “Apunae sathigur kai balihaarai.” I am a sacrifice to my true Guru, to that Shabad Guru, to that Prakash, to Guru Granth Sahibji, to Patshahji who has blessed me with aagai sukh paashai sukh sehajaa ghar aanandh hamaarai. He has blessed with peace in the next world as well as complete balance and peace in this world. Within the home of my soul there is complete bliss which never ends, complete happiness, complete joy which never ends. Rehaao. Guruji says, “Pause and think about this.”

Antharajaamee karanaihaaraa soee khasam hamaaraa. The knower of everyone’s heart, the one who does everything, He is my Lord, my protector, my creator. Guru sahibji says, “Nirabho bheae gur charanee laagae eik raam naam aadhaaraa.” You will become fearless if you attach yourself to the lotus feet of the Guru. What do you then realize? You realize that your only support is the name of Waheguru, name of God. When you realize that that is your only support and that everything else is false you become fearless, because you realize that everything else is false. You can only depend on God’s name.

Safal dharasan akaal moorath prabh hai bhee hovanehaaraa. Blessed is the vision of Waheguru, of Akal murat, of that form which is of God, which is Akal, which is beyond birth and death, which is beyond time. God is true now and for always will be true. What does God do in His love? Kanth lagaae apunae jan raakhae apunee preeth piaaraa. He saves His servants by putting them against Himself, He takes them into an embrace; Kanth lagaae. He does this because they [His servants, His devotees] have love for Him and He has undying love for them.

Vaddee vaddiaaee acharaj sobhaa kaaraj aaeiaa raasae. Great is the glory of Waheguru, His greatness is this world is beyond anything in this world. When Waheguruji does kirpa upon the human being all the affairs of that human being are resolved. Naanak ko gur pooraa bhaettiou sagalae dhookh binaasae. Nanak has been blessed with meeting, with darshan of the perfect Guru and what has happened? All of the pains and sorrows have been removed.

In this shabad, Guru Arjun Devji is telling us how great it is to be blessed with meeting the Guru. Oh Sangat how great are you! How great is your fortune that you are listening to the Guru’s word. Great is the person who listens to the Guru’s word, yet greater is the person who accepts the Guru’s word, greatest is the person who lives the Guru’s word.
