For the sake of wealth, some become servants or thieves.

Wealth does not go along with them when they die; it passes into the hands of others.

Without Truth, honor is not obtained in the Court of the Lord.

Drinking in the subtle essence of the Lord, one is emancipated in the end. ||50||

Dhan Dhan Siri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj speaks to us through the Oankaar Bani. Satguru ji says, Ik Oankaar Sathigur Prasaadh – there is One nourishing, creative and destroying Being Who is found through the True Guru’s Grace. Satguru ji begins and says,

Beejo soojhai ko nehee behai dhuleechaa paae
Beejo means any other, soojhai means to understand, to conceive ko nehee. There is no other in my conception, there is no other at all who is beejo – other than you Akal Purakh. Behai dhuleechaa paae – dhuleechaa: literally means royal throne. There is no one who can sit on Your royal throne Akal Purakh. There is only You who can sit on the spiritual and eternal justice. Satguru ji says,

Narak nivaaran nareh nar saacho saachai naae
That nareh nar – That Supreme amongst all beings – nareh nar – He is One Who can remove, Who can eradicate, Who can completely destroy narak – all hell and liberate us from there. Saacho saachai naae – He is the Truth and His name is the Truth as well – He is Satnaam.

Van thrin tootath fir rehee man mehi karo beechaar
I have searched for Akal Purakh in the Van – forest, in the fields. Tootath means to search and fir rehee means to wander around but man mehi karo beechaar – in my mind I karo beechaar – I contemplate the beechaar – the understanding.

Laal rathan bahu maanakee sathigur haath bhanddaar
The bhanddaar – the treasure is in the hands of the Guru. Treasure is the Laal rathan bahu maanakee – all the emeralds, all these diamonds of bairaag, unattachment to the world, prem of complete love, daya – kindness, charity. All these diamonds, all these emeralds are found in the Guru’s hand.

Ootham hovaa prabh milai eik man eaekai bhaae
Those who are united with Akal Purakh are Ootham – highly respected, are uplifted but only those who eik man eaekai bhaae –only those people who love Akal Purakh who have that bhaae eik man – one single minded love.

Naanak preetham ras milae laahaa lai parathaae
O Nanak! Those people who meet their preetham, meet their beloved and enjoy that ras, that eternal nectar of meeting the Beloved preetham they laahaa lai parathaae. They earn the true profit, the true laha in this world and in parathaae – in the next world as well.

Rachanaa raach jin rachee jin siriaa aakaar
That Akal Purakh who raach – who created this Rachanaa – this world, jin rachee jin siriaa aakaar – that One Who has siriaa – has made – your aakaar – your body,

Guramukh baeanth dhiaaeeai anth n paaraavaar
Become a Guramukh and follow the words of the Guru. Guramukh baeanth dhiaaeeai – meditate upon the One Who has no anth – no end- One Who has no paaraavaar – that has no limits.

Rraarrai roorraa har jeeo soee
Guru ji uses the letter rraarrai here and says that when you read the letter rraarrai – roorraa har jeeo soee. Roorraa means beautiful, endearing – Only that Waheguru, Akal Purakh – har jeeo soee, is the most beautiful.

This bin raajaa avar n koee
There is no other King apart from Akal Purakh.

Rraarrai gaarurr thum sunahu har vasai man maahi
Listen to the gaarurr – a certain spell which is used to tantric the poison of the snake. In this case the spell is of the Guru’s Shabad and the poison is our ego and of Kaam, lust, krodh – anger. Satguru ji says, Listen to the spell of the Guru, Oh my brothers and sisters! listen to this and har vasai man maahi. If you listen to the Guru’s word, Guru’s special spell, the Mantar, the Mool Mantar then har vasai man maahi – In your mind Waheguru will come and abide.

Gur parasaadhee har paaeeai math ko bharam bhulaahi
Through the Guru’s Grace you will find Hari, you will find God within you. Math ko bharam bhulaahi – Do not be deluded by any bharam – by any doubts.

So saahu saachaa jis har dhan raas
That person is a true saahu – a true wealthy man jis har dhan raas – who has the raas -capital of the dhan – wealth of the God’s name – Hari.

Guramukh pooraa this saabaas
That person is a true Guramukh and is pooraa – is perfect in all ways. Guru says, Saabaas – I applaud that person, all hail to that person.

Roorree baanee har paaeiaa gur sabadhee beechaar
Roorree means beautiful. Through the beautiful blessed body you will har paaeiaa – you will find the Lord. Gur sabadhee beechaar – meditate upon Him through the Guru’s Shabad, through the Guru’s Word.

Aap gaeiaa dhukh kattiaa har var paaeiaa naar
How can we cut through all pain? Guru ji says, When your sense of Aap, your sense of ego goes – all your pain will go and you will var paaeiaa naar – the Soul bride will find her Husband.

Sueinaa rupaa sancheeai dhan kaachaa bikh shaar
But what does the Manmukh do? All the manmukh does is collect together sueinaa – gold and rupaa – silver. But Guru ji says, This wealth is worldly wealth. Kaachaa means literally the one which will perish very quickly. Guru ji says, The manmukh collect gold and silver, just like collecting ashes.

Saahu sadhaaeae sanch dhan dhubidhaa hoe khuaar
That person who calls himself saahu – a wealthy man, just because he has collected worldly dhan – worldly wealth – Guru ji says, That person will be khuaar – will be completely wasted by dhubidhaa – by two mindedness. That person will never find peace.

Sachiaaree sach sanchiaa saacho naam amol
Those people who follow the Truth they are the ones who have gathered together the Truth. Saacho naam amol – they have gathered together the priceless, the most valuable Naam – the name of Lord.

Har niramaaeil oojalo path saachee sach bol
Waheguru ji is niramaaeil – is completely pure and oojalo – completely immaculate beyond all conception. Path saachee sach bol – those Guramukhs who attach to Him their path – their honor – is forever True and forever kept and whatever they say and speak is the Truth.

Saajan meeth sujaan thoo thoo saravar thoo hans
Oh Waheguru you are my meeth – my friend, my companion my saajan. You are my sujaan – you are One Who knows all. You Yourself are the saravar – the lake. You Yourself are the hans – the swan. You are the lake of the swan, you are the swan of the soul.

Saacho thaakur man vasai ho balihaaree this
Those people in whose mind vasai – abides the True thaakur – the True Lord, Satuguru ji says, how I am balihaaree – a sacrifice to those people.

Maaeiaa mamathaa mohanee jin keethee so jaan
Satguru ji says, Do not get attached to this Maya. Why? Because it is full of attachment. It is an enticer. But that person jin keethee – who made this maya – attach to Him.

Bikhiaa anmrith eaek hai boojhai purakh sujaan
Only that person who boojhai – realizes within Him the True Being – Akal Purakh, that person realizes that bikhiaa – poison and anmrith – nectar are the same. There is no difference. That person realizes that the praise and slander are the same – two edges of the same sword.

Khimaa vihoonae khap geae khoohan lakh asankh
Those people who don’t have khimaa – patience, Satuguru ji says, They khap geae – they burn in their krodh – anger. Khoohan lakh asankh – countless people have fallen into this.

Ganath n aavai kio ganee khap khap mueae bisankh
The numbers cannot be counted. How can I count them?, Satuguru ji say. Khap khap – burning and burning again and again bisankh – thousands and millions have wasted this human life.

Khasam pashaanai aapanaa khoolai bandh n paae
Guru ji says, Those Guramukh pyaree who realize their Lord, to realize the Lord is to realize the One in all, what happens to them? Those saints, gurmukh pyaree, those bhagats those people have realized that Lord is their only true friend. Guru ji says, Those people, those Guramukhs, those pyaree Guru de Sikh – they khoolai bandh n paae – they are not tied down to anything, they are liberated.

Sabadh mehalee kharaa thoo khimaa sach sukh bhaae
Through the shabad of the Guru enter into the mehalee – the mansion of Akal Purakh’s Being. Then what will you get? Khimaa sach sukh bhaae – you will get khimaa – Patience, sach – Truth, sukh – True Peace and bhaae – True Love.

Kharach kharaa dhan dhiaan thoo aapae vasehi sareer
Have the dhan – the wealth of dhiaan – complete and utter motivation and kharach spend the kharaa dhan – the real wealth and you will realize that aapae vasehi sareer – Waheguru ji lives within your body.

Man than mukh jaapai sadhaa gun anthar man dheer
With your mind, with your body and with your mouth jap sadhaa – forvever meditate upon that Akal Purakh. Gun anthar man dheer – Within your mind there will be dheer – this complete composure will take over your soul.

Houmai khapai khapaaeisee beejo vath vikaar
Through ego you just burn and get wasted. Any other thing than Waheguru is vikaar. There is no point to it.

Janth oupaae vich paaeian karathaa alag apaar
Waheguru ji has janth oupaee – has created these creatures and has vich paaeian – put His Light within. Karathaa alag apaar – Akal Purakh, at the same time as being within them Akal Purakh – the creator is also alag apaar – is beyond them; this beautiful game that has been played.

Srisattae bhaeo n jaanai koe
No one knows the secret, this mystery of that One who created this srisattae – this creation.

Srisattaa karai s nihacho hoe
Whatever the Akal Purakh does, that will happen without doubt.

Sanpai ko eesar dhiaaeeai
Satguru ji says, Some people eesar dhiaaeeai – meditate upon Akal Purakh for sanpai – just for wealth.

Sanpai purab likhae kee paaeeai
But Satguru ji says, You will only receive that wealth that has been written in your pre-ordained destiny, within your purab.

Sanpai kaaran chaakar chor
Some people become servants for money, for wealth. Some people become thieves.

Sanpai saath n chaalai hor
Satuguru ji says, When you die this wealth will not go with you and it will pass into the hands of others – hor.

Bin saachae nehee dharageh maan
Without being attached to the True Akal Purakh there will be no maan – there will be no respect in dharageh – the court of the Lord.

Har ras peevai shuttai nidhaan
Guru ji says, Pevvai – enjoy the har ras – the essence of Akal Purakh and shuttai nidhaan – this will liberate you in the end.

So Satguru ji Maharaj here talks that there is no other than Akal Purakh and Guru ji instructs us, Rraarrai gaarurr thum sunahu har vasai man maahi. Gur parasaadhee har paaeeai math ko bharam bhulaahi.

Bin saachae nehee dharageh maan
Har ras peevai shuttai nidhaan
