The hukamnama today is by Guru Nanak Devji, in the Sorath Raag, on Ang 636 of Siri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj.

Raag Sorath is a Raag full of strong overpowering belief. The power in Sorath Raag can win over someone who isn’t even concentrating on the Raag.

The people who even sit in the congregation, in the sangat in the company of those people who serve the True Guru, even they are saved. Why? The love in their hearts rubs off on all the people around them. Love is one of the most infectious diseases.

TinHaa thaak na paa-ee-ai pi-aaray amrit rasan haray
Thaak means block. TinHaa thaak na paa-ee-ai means nobody blocks them; there is no block in their way. What can block someone? Kaam: lust, krodh: anger, ahankaar: ego, lobh: greed, moh: attachment. These are the things that can block but these do not block them. Pi-aaray means Oh my beloved these people are not blocked by this. Why? Amrit rasan haray where rasan means with their tongue, Haray means the Lord’s, that Nurturer’s, Amrit means immortal nectar. The immortal nectar of that Lord’s naam, on their tongues, is in their hearts. How can they be blocked in any way?

Booday bhaaray where booday means to sink and bhaaray means heavy. The ones who are heavy sink. But why are they heavy? Bhai binaa pi-aaray means Oh my beloved, they are heavy because they do not have the love and fear of God in their hearts. But, Guru Ji says taaray nadar karay where taaray means they can be saved. How? Nadar karay where nadar means grace and karay means if it is bestowed upon. If the Grace of God, if the glance of Grace is bestowed upon them, even they are carried across.
